4wd buggy front tire help
i'm having a hell of a time trying to find 2.2 narrow front 4wd tires.
i have proline dirt hawgs on the back, i tried fitting dirt hawg III's on it (2wd front), they fit but look silly (too narrow).
i don't want spikes as this car is a basher (tamiya df01)and i'd just burn them off like the quickness lol. i'd like something with a tread pattern similar to a dirt hawg/road hawg.
anyone know where i can find a selection of narrow 4wd front tires?
thanks.

RE: 4wd buggy front tire help
Because the car is front wheel drive you should really run the same sized tire front and rear. This will avoid any binding due to different roll out of the tires. I use to run the same 2.2 dirt hawgs front and rear on my dark impact and currently have the same tire on a Baja Champ.

i have seen the proline gladiator and the suburbs, but those are track tires (meaning i'll kill them in a hour), i'm looking for more of a street/off road tire like a dirt hawg.
i have fitted a pair of dirt hawg III's on the front but they look silly (too narrow).

Sorry , brain to fingers comm error. I meant four wheel drive. I've always had good luck with the Dirt Hawgs and they seem to last a long time as long as the buggy isn't too over powered. I got a full summer out of a set on my old DI. A set on the rear of my VXL bandit only lasts a few packs but that's a different story.

the thing is i got a set of 4 wheels from rc mart that are 2.2 df03 wheels, and the fronts are narrow. the narrow dirt hawg III's are intended to be 2wd fronts, they fit the wheels but only barely.
i'l try to get some pics tonight.

Check out the link below. This is not my car but these are the same tires I ran. This DI has Dirt hawg 1 on the rear and dirt hawg 3 on the front.

here's a few pics, as you can see the wheel is just a little too wide for those tires.
i know i can get "track" tires for it, but i need something similar to dirt hawgs so they won't wear out as fast as spikes or other track specific tires.
i drive a good mix of dirt/grass/asphalt and tread patterns like dirt hawgs seem to work and wear well.

just a question, how similar (or different) is the df-02 chassis to a df-02 chassis, would be interested to know[img][/img]

My vote is they are the same! j/k
To the OP I think your car looks fine with the tires you have. I dunno but I like it...

df01 dates back to 1990, the first car was the manta ray, it's motor position is different from the df02/df03. instead for the motor sitting length wise it sits across the chassis (like an optima mid).
it's a great car though, it has truggy like ground clearance. i love this chassis.
