Default RC10 Gearing issues

Ok so I decided to pull out my old (gold pan/6-gear transmission) RC10 for a whirl but I cant seem to get my CO27 to run cool enough even though I have cut the comm, cleaned the motor, changed the brushes [:@] I am running it 87/19 (to high [>:]???) On pavement mostly (does good on dirt but gets dirty fast) I can say our weather has been hot but still thats no excuse for the motor to run the way it is (right?) SO anyone got pointers on what I should do, I am thinking of changing the gearing to near AE spec but I dont know what (I think spec is like 81/21-23?) Any help is greatly appreciated, and the car *seems* to roll halfway decent even though it acts most of the time like there is a drag brake on though [>:]

Default RE: RC10 Gearing issues

if there is a drag it will cook the motor, and esc
take the pinion gear off and find out if its rolling free, if not roll each wheel and see which one is dragging.
Running a smaller pinion if anything should make the motor, esc, and batts run cooler.
