RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...
Its suspension!. Just with springs alone (for now) stiffen the front and soften the rear. usually people run stiffer springs up front. Youll have to play with it but its definately suspension. Heres the thing. Suspension is usually dialed in per track your running. So suspension tuned to hit speed bumps at 40 may not be good for catching big air and vice versa. Get the Losi springs mentioned in here. My E- revo runs a track like a champ and works great on a MX track but not over speed bumps. Think about it. Its a speed bump. To the Slash its huge. And your doing a scale speed of 400 miles an hour.

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...
Here is a "how to" on installing 2WD Slash CVDs in rear of the 4x4.
The problem is that the diff cup is too long and hits the dog bone, and will bend it, at full compression of the suspension. This is because the 2WD transmission in not as wide as the rear diff on the 4X4.
But with a grinder and a bit of patience, they bolt right up
Here is the one I ground on the left and the one out of the package on the right. You can see how much needs to be taken out.
Here is what the cup measures out of the bag with no modifications.
Here is the one I ground down
And here it in installed in the truck at full droop. Keep in mind I have Losi 8 shocks installed which acre 3MM shorter than the stock rear shocks. Make sure to measure the cups as you grind so you dont take off to much material or they will be useless!!
Hope this helps!!

Holy Little Baby Jesus... I installed a 11.1v 3s lipo today and the thing is basically uncontrollable. At first I thought my steering trim had been messed with because it was pulling hard to the right. Then I realized it pulls in which ever direction has more traction at the moment and keeping it in a straightline is basically not possible (not possible for me anyway).
I was pleasantly surprised to see that neither the motor or the esc warmed up too much.

once you add the rediculous shipping from HK, one of the persons I listed other auctions is same price AND faster shipping. Besides, Im just going to chop off the TRX connector anyway.
So, price questions aside.. Does anyone run this in their 4wd Slash, and if so, do you have any complaints? If it was between 20C @5000mah, and 25C @ 4000mah would the perform the same, just the 4k die faster?

OK I love the drive shaft mod by Losifiend but has anybody come up with a mod for this problem. Why did'nt they just extend the drive shaft cover all the way? It turns out this makes a little rock trap and now my slipper nut is rounding off. So I need to cover it some how and was wondering if anybody else has already.

It was designed to be easy to adjust the slipper. If it was covered you would have to take it of. I'm going to put the diff in and just cover it up problem solved.

What are the chances I puff my ThunderPower 3s 2100mah 15c battery if I run it in my 4X4 with the stock gearing? What is the minimum discharge rating for a 3s lipo that can safely run with a stock geared 4x4 Slash?

You could run it for about 3 to 5min if you turn off LVC. I have a 5yr old common sence 2000mha 11v lipo that I run in my rustler. It will make it Wheelie but I would never run it more then 5min its just kind of a show off battery for the local kids. However the 4WD would put even more load on that battery so I would'nt do it.

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...
i normally wouldn't run this 15c 2100 pack because its for my brushless planes. I just wanted to know if it would I would damage it so I could demo the 3s for my brother who just finally went brushless with a fuze 3300kv in his 2wd slash. He's hesitant to make the leap to lipo so im trying to convince him of what he could get into. I have a 2s 5000 Reedy 20-25c hardpack I was going to demo as well, I hope that one is safe. What is the lowest C rated 2s lipo I could run in my 4x4 without having to worry?

20c is the lowest you should use. So your Reedy is just fine.

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...
Found a REALLY nice piece of land today to get some dirt work done and after 45 minutes of flat dirt running and a few very small jumps (thanks for the help on the jumps... she lands nice and pretty now!) I noticed BOTHrear wheels wobbling like an intoxicated Irishman.
Sure enough both stub axles were bent at the pin...
Went to the LHS and the guy said that he keeps PLENTY of these in stock because they bend almost every day you race it. He said it is because there is too much power on the landings???
Anyway, I bought 4 complete sets (part number 6852) so that I have a spare set for next time.
Other than that, the truck ran flawlessly... Ran it with the 19 tooth pinion and the 3S 4000mah 11.1 battery for nearly 30 minutes before I had to throw the 2S in. Temps never got high. I did pick up a temp guage today so that I can keep a better eye on them.
Thanks again for all the info... I love my Slash PE!
