brushless motor for a wheely king
just got a wheely king 4x4 with the iron outlaw body right now i have a lrp esc 10t limit with a speedgem extereme 10t with 10 degrees of timing i want to go brushless will a lrp vector x11 8.5 stock spec be faster then what i have now the brushless motor makes 300 watts of power @7.2 volts the brushed motor makes 195-200 but the brushed motor has higher rpm,s which will be faster

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
There is no way a 4700 kv 540 size motor puts out only 300 watts at 7.2v. That motor can pull around 70 amps.............they are being very conservative i believe. On the subject of which is faster, it wouldnt be close.........the vector would run away from the speedgems. It would be fast on 2s, and 3s would be a helluva ride, although you may run into tranny/gear issues.

check out lrp,s web site rc10.com for motor specs thats what it says 300 watts @7.2 volts but that good to know because i got a killer deal on that 8.5 40 bucks im going to run a mamba max esc with it with a 8.4v pack

You should look into these lipos, they are so darn affordable now:
only $19 for this 100a cont. lipo, 2s - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._20C_Lipo_Pack
Or 3s for $29 - http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s..._20C_Lipo_Pack
Your 8.4v nimh will not do justice to that ESC/motor setup, and you will possibly be disappointed.[]

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
just order a mamba max 6900kv set up for my wheely king im going to run the 8.4v packs for now i hope i dont mesh the tranny up but im not hard on my truck i run it a little just for show on pavement will it be a big power difference going for a 10t brushed to 6900kv brushless

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
Can you still cancel it? A 6900kv is waaaaay too high. You will have major problems even gearing it..................A VXL 3500 would be much better, or the 4700 you were looking at, at the most.

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
why would it be a problem gearing and why would it burn burn up so easly i was thinking of gearing it to 16/96 which will give you a pretty low gear ratio i like straight line racing a to b the wheely king is my first r/c monster truck and it is fun love to setup my ramps and jump over a line of toy cars thats the way my friends a i race but there,s a wheely king on you-tube with a 5700kv mamba max that ran 45 mph im not into big speed runs or bashing just enough for some short distance a-b drag racing

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
If you are into short distance drag racing then you need a lower kv motor...............and the speed runs that you're "not into" are exactly what the 6900kv will try to give you..........thats what its for.......... top end speed. You will end up with a rig that will have trouble accelerating over little jumps. You may be under the impression that higher kv means more power..........it means more speed in a nutshell. If you want bursts of power to jump over stuff then a 3500kv or so would be what you need. The lower the KV the more acceleration and torque to put it in "laymans" terms. Good luck!!

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
but cant i gear that motor down enough to have the best of both worlds torque and speed because the 10t i have now is sort of both takes off fast and gets faster i cant run full throttle with out the truck flipping backwards and this is short distance but im a drag racer by trade i race my real car every chance i get to go to a track so i like speed and torque the 8.4 pack gives plenty of torque and speed as a 7.2v pack gives more speed im not a r/c expert at all but more volts should give more acceleration plus with the castle link software i should be able to take out some timing to give me more torque and less rpm

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
Anything is possible..................doesnt the wheelie king have a 2 gear center diff with a pretty big reduction to it? Maybe the smallest pinion you could fit on the motor..................?? It very well may work..............it just is something that doesnt sound right, the 3500 or the 4700 you mentioned first seems a better fit ......in my opinion. Keep us posted!!

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
im not sure about the gear reduction but i know you can by one for it as far as pinion gears a 12 or maybe a 10t would be the smallest

RE: brushless motor for a wheely king
I'm referring to this gear set...............isnt this the center diff? It looks like a 15:1 or so.......i'm not real good at reduction figures.
