Default Traxxas Rustler XL-5 Motor Choice

Well, I figured it might be time to upgrade my motor in my Traxxas Rustler XL-5. I am looking for a motor minimum 16 turns, and maximum 21 Turn; preferably a 19 turn motor.

I already have the Trinity CO27, in my Hornet. I really like that Motor, but I want to aim different this time.

I would like something around a 19 Turn because of its generality. I could use it both on, and off-road; (mostly on road).

I would also like to lastly throw in that I would like a motor that will give me very good acceleration, very good top speed, and still give me good run times.

Anyway here is what is on my list as of right now. Feel free to add to the list, and remove any definite "no"choices.
[*] Associated 14 through 21 turn motors (LRP GT3) Double- [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLRE0&P=0]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXLRE0&P=0[/link][*] Asscoiated Reedy Radon 30,000 RPM motor-[link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMUN9&P=0]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXMUN9&P=0[/link][*] Epic XX Pro Stock motor with ball bearings- [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNDV2&P=0]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXNDV2&P=0[/link][*] Trinity Komodo Dragon 19 turn spec modified motor-Pro motor- [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/22597/n/Trinity-Komodo-Dragon-Pro-Motor-19T-Spec]http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/products_id/22597/n/Trinity-Komodo-Dragon-Pro-Motor-19T-Spec[/link][*] Trinity Chrominum 16 turn double motor- [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVC4&P=0]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVC4&P=0[/link][*] Trinity Chameleon 2 Hemi Pro motor- [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSWS7&P=0]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXSWS7&P=0[/link][*] Trinity Acornite- [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVC5&P=0]http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDVC5&P=0[/link]

So what would fit my bill?

Would I need to gear up or down to get the full power out of the motor?

Thanks ahead of time. I appreciate all of the help.

Joe

Try a Reedy Challenger 19T spec motor W/14t pinion, they are great, I have one and a Stockstar 27T. and have run both in a PEDE XL-1
there are also the Reedy flash modified red ones , like 19X2. they might be adjustable and give better reverse power. The Challenger spanks the monkey fwd, but in reverse it has little poop in it's diaper LOL

of your list I'd get the LRP double or a REEDY............................The Reedy has been run on 11.1V lipos and survived..... very abusive I fear, it's not like 12v running through a 55T crawler motor.....

Good luck, and happy landings.....

"I would also like to lastly throw in that I would like a motor that will give me very good acceleration, very good top speed, and still give me good run times." I think you just described your Co27............................I would rule out the radon..........

Alright, so I narrowed my list down by a few motors.

Here's what I am at now:

[*] Associated Challenger 19 Turn Motor[*] Associated 19 Turn LRP GT3 Double [*] Trinity Komodo Dragon 19 Turn Spec Modified Motor[*] Trinity Chrominum 16 Turn Double[*] Trinity Chameleon 2 Hemi Pro[*] Trinity Acornite

Again, is there any motor I should add to my list? Any I should completely Delete off of my list?

Thanks Again.

I second the Trinity Acornite Trinity Acornite. I've been running the 15 and 17T motors for a long time and never had a bad experience yet.
