Best Stampede XL-5 Brushless upgrade
ok guys im gettin tired of my good ol s-600 brushed motor, and want to know what would be a good brushless system for the stampede. im the type of person who just loves to drive it...not a lot of tuning (ie my shocks make noises like bubblyness) . im thinking vxl ir sidewinder 4600...cheapest with quality?
EDIT: are sidewinders good quality.? ebay has 4600s cheap from atomic hobbies; but im not sure if it comes with warrenty?
EDIT#2; also, ima be using a 8 cell nimh

RE: Best Stampede XL-5 Brushless upgrade
sidewinders are nice, there better then the old vxl esc, the new vxl is waterproof but it used to melt off wire leads fairly easy. my stampede runs a mamba max esc and vxl motor, and gone are the days of using full throttle i'll burn anything that comes around with 1/4 throttle at the most. if i get a long enough run to get half throttle (40-45mph) tapping the throttle to 5/8th will cause the tires to balloon and the truck will spin out. Its useless on a race track, and useless if you cant handle the power. i have a mean throttle curve and it still is a hand full it's geared 32/76 on a 3s i bet i can get 75-80mph out of it

ok im now leaning towards the cc sidewinder 4600-
ive got a high quality 8 cell (guess what make)
would 23/86 gearing with Talons be overkill?
i like speed

you should be fine i run 20/86 with badlands and those are a bit bigger so you should be set, tho on an 8 cell you may have go go down a toot or two on your pinion....

RE: Best Stampede XL-5 Brushless upgrade
I have a new Rustler and upgraded to the Sidewinder system and even after wrapping in foil, moving as far apart, and talking for nearly 30 minutes with Castle tech support. The end result after trying some troubleshooting was that the Traxxas am system would not work with the castel system.
I went and bought the Spektrum system and everything was fine.
I have read about some people who had no problems at all... So just understand that there is a chance that it wont work and you will need to upgrade the radio system.
