im trying to solder the traxxas connector back on my esc and it wont stick to the bar. any idea what to do. ive tried for about 2 hours and nothing. tried flux didnt help much. the solder just seems like it doesnt want to stick to the bar. ive soldered a few other connectors and it worked on them but not this one. ive tried different bars. my soldering iron is 100w and im using .50 solder. im using 60/40 rosin core solder. any help would be greatly appreciated

RE: soldering troubles
You gotta get the connector REALLY hot hold the iron on it and try an tin it with the solder 1st. It took me around 20 seconds of holding the 100w iron on the tab to get the tab hot enough to get the solder to stick. Easiest way to make sure is put the iron on the tab and hold the solder touching the tab till it melts.

RE: soldering troubles
Solder wire, the place connector on some wood and heat it up, place wire on connector and iron on top of wire for about 5 or 10 seconds, and remove iron and hold wire until it cools.

RE: soldering troubles
The bars on these things are REALLY big, so they need a lot of heat to get stuff to stick well. But you shouldn't need any 100W iron to do it. Get a 30 watt and let it sit for like 20 minutes just heating up. Let the tip get good and hot then tin it. Before the rosin finishes cooking off of the tip set the tip on the bar and feed in about 1/2" of the solder rod right next to the tip on the bar. Clean the tip, then set the iron down and let it get good and hot again. 5 minutes or so should do it. Now grab your wire (assuming it has already been tinned), hold it on top of the bar (I use needle nose pliers about an inch back from the end) tin the tip again, and immediately place it on top of the wire and press the wire down onto the bar. If you got it hot enough, anything under a 10awg wire should melt and stick within about 5 seconds.
