shocks 'matched' and mounted, in the end i just went with the brass ball connectors.

i have a few spare TA-03 TRF parts, and the TRF's (back in the day) used to use pink!

i'm not sure, the only way to avoid a mess up is to go with what Tamiya recommends, unless you prefer some aluminium bodied shock..

servo and my prefered choice of receiver..

servo with steering links attached..

left half of the chassis..

just need to be joined together now..

main chassis bolted together..

electronics installed..

front gearbox added..

rear gearbox added.. for some reason one of the motor is rotating the wrong way.. i think its just a case of connecting the motor wires the opposite way.. (yellow-blue, instead of yellow-yellow)

Looking good Lee!

After a close look at it as you build it, what do your battery pack options look like? Only a 6 cell NiMh at this point? I know we had discussed running dual packs (LiPo?) at some point...any idea how/where they'd mount?

i guess you fit one parallel with the chassis frame, but you'd have to move the electronics along..

body was super easy to cut out and sand.. the nice swoopy lines helped there..

it shares the same body as the XB Levant...

there's quite a choice.. Dual Hunter, Twin Detonator, Double Blaze (all 4WD, different body and wheels)

then you have the Blackfoot Extreme, almost identical chassis but RWD and plastic (hard) body..

Heres how I mounted my second battery pack. Others have actually created a little tray in the same spot so the battery doesn't move around and has more support, but the straps work fine for me. The chassis itself provides enough support as it is. You can also buy dual battery, alloy chassis online. I think they cost around $140. And even yet other people hack up the chassis with a dremel above the factory battery mount and put another stick pack in there. I personally dont' want to hack my chassis up though, or pay that much money for a chassis that may bend.

Interesting. I'd probably go with the "slap the pack up top" solution as well - wouldn't bother with a brand new chassis that almost doubles the price of the vehicle!

special blue wheelnuts, as used on most of my vehicles..

just needs to be sanded down a tad more (hence the arrows) then painting and then decaling..

I'm gonna go with box art paintscheme, provided it just one colour of paint.. hate masking...

then i'll get a Twin Detonator body for a scale kinda look..

I really like the box paintscheme for this one, but the Twin Dentonator shell will as you said look more realistic.
I'm not such a big fan of masking either

What types of non-stock motors are some of you DH guys running? I was talking with LB in another thread, and he mentioned dual BL (just for fun) - what kind of ESC would you have to have to run that? My dual motor experience begins and ends at stock E-Savage brushed motors and the stock ESC.

An alternative to dual BL might be dual S600s - anyone tried that?

You'd need 2 BL ESC, Eman...

Dual S600 or T600 would be sweet, although you'd need S600 + S600R or T600 + T600R.. one of the motors has to be the reversed rotation version...

Seriously? How would one wire up 2 BL ESCs? I don't get how they'd stay in synch and play nice together.

I think I'd go the S600/T600 route (thanks for the tip on the reversed rotation motor). Would those actually fit in the chassis ok? I assume they're not too big. Also, is that too much TQ and not enough top end, or do you think it would suit the DH well?

The reason I ask is I know you use them in your TXT, but that's a bigger truck - wondering if the DH would want something different.....

S600/T600s are cheap though, so a nice option.

Dual BL -> 1 ESC per motor..

How do they sync up.. they don't.. but at least they are not driving the same spur gear.. so the sync isn't as critical.. (since they will have been geared down a bit at the wheels) But yeah, still, you want to make sure you have the same spec motor, etc.

The S600/T600, they are great when you put a lot of voltage through them.. I'd recommend a dual battery setup.. should be quite a beast!!

What's the scoop on the T600 vs. the S600? I see the T takes more voltage, but runs at lower turns. Is it just a matter of choosing torque over top-end? Or more of a question of pumping more voltage through a lower turn motor to achieve speed with less heat?
