Before I brought out the Dremel I did look at the one piece unit and it appears it would work as it doesn't seem to have that lip to interfere. May be a worthy investment.

I've been waiting on my Turnigy 4500 4S hardcase lipos for a little while now, so hopefully I get them soon. Just had to order a few pinions last night from Amainhobbies and also ordered a Protek 5400 4S that fits the Ve8. I'm sure you read that the battery compartment is a little tight and only fits 140mm length lipos. So be careful which batteries u choose.

So hopefully I get it running this week (as long as I receive the batteries)!

Actually just did a double take on that one piece and it does have that lip there on the side that the motor mounts onto. So probably you'd have to grind it a bit.

Yeah the lipos i ordered from HK are the Turnigy 4.5 hardcase 4S lipos. These were the only Turnigy ones that are short enough to fit the Ve8.

Did you flip the front and rear diffs when you built your kit or are you just going to run the motor in the reverse mode? If its the later do you know if it lowers the kv rating?
It does lower the kV rating, but only slightly. The difference is less than the mfg variation in kV, so you won't notice it (a 2250kV motor isn't always 2250kV...typically there's about 5% variation, and that rating is unloaded only. it changes when loaded).

So if it does in fact lower the kv rating less than 5% it's definitely nothing to worry about.

I'm assuming that the motor is sensored and so the fixed timing would be the reason for the Kv change if ran reversed? Because as far as I understand a sensorless motor is the same speed regardless of which direction you wire it to run being that the timing is electronic.

Default RE: XERUN 2250kv 4168SL 1/8th combo

I think the motors are sensorless, although I wait to be corrected on this one.

Just got word that my combo is in the UK so shouldn't be long now, my kit had some bits missing though so I'm waiting for those too!

Question for willystylz - Your ESC came wired for 2 x 2s lipo packs right? I'm only going to run 1 x 4s pack so will only need one connector, are the connectors both ends just bullet style plug and play ones? Or do you have to do some soldering?

Cheers

The motor that comes in the Xerun combo is sensorless. Although the ESC is capable of sensored as well.

The ESC does come prewired for 2x2S lipo with Deans connectors. I am going to be running 1x4S as well, so I'll snip the connectors off and I plan on soldering on a EC5 connector. Nothing will be needed to solder onto the ESC as there's already a single positive and negative lead extending from the ESC.

Ok got some questions !!! big ones .. If i got the 150 amp version of this which is about 30 dollars more. Could I run 2,3,4,5,6 cell batteries and since my Caster 1/8 truggy is saddle packs could I use my Thunder Power 50c 2's with my 50c 3's. Is it possible for me to run my Thunder Power 2's 50c along with my http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s..._hardcase_pack on the same esc just wondering what kinda variations that are possible.

I ordered the same lipos, also from HK, how long have you been waiting? I ordered mine at the end of May and I'm still waiting......the tracking number they provided doesn't even work and no word from their customer support yet. Hopefully they'll be here soon...

On the plus side got my Xerun combo though and got the motor to fit ok with the help of the Dremel of course. Quite impressed with the quality also, just in the process of rewiring the ESC for 1 connector before plugging everything in.

Your car looks ace btw.

Strugrat, I ordered my lipos May 24. Soon after got an email saying they were shipped. Then About a week ago got another email saying they were shipped again. This is my first time dealing with HK, and not too impressed so far, if it weren't for the prices I'd be pretty pissed.

Which pinion are you gonna run? I had to order some more pinions as the included mod1 (13t i think) is too small to even reach the spur with the motor slid all the way in, so I've ordered some in the range of 16-20t.

Paron34, yes if you get the 150A version you can run up to 6C. Now don't quote me on this, but I don't think you can mix packs with different voltages. To run in parallel I think the starting voltage of each battery has to be the same. Although I'm pretty sure you could run 2 different lipos in parallel like your Turnigy and Thunderpower. You would just want to pay special attention and monitor each pack when approaching LVC. The age, C rating, and health of each battery is a factor, and without being careful, you could run a pack under 6V while the other is still above. The ESC only measures total voltage. On the Xerun you can adjust LVC, so may be a good idea to set it a little higher if you were to do this.

Same here with the the HK experience, down to the emails and everything. Also really not impressed especially with not hearing from the customer service (emailed em a week or so ago) and the fact that the tracking number doesn't even work.

Does your tracking number work alright?

Also did you fix the ESC down with the provided sticky tape? Mine is pretty tight in the space with the on off switch and the holes don't line up with the chassis.

Oh I've got a 17 and a 19t pinion to run on the car so sounds like we're pretty similar on setup.

I dremelled off one of the mounting holes sticking out of the esc and just servo taped it down. It's a good sized area of servo tape so I don't see any problems with it not holding.

My tracking # doesn't work either, so I'm kinda going blind here. Just hope it shows up one day...

Both my thunder Power batteries are 3 or 4 runs old so their close to new. The Turnigy 2's hardcase will fit perfect with the TP 2's not to find a Turnigy that goes along with my 3's.

Was bored today and threw on the aluminum skidplates I had received just after I built the kit. Was easy as pie.....turned the chassis upside down and unscrewed the plastic skidplates and bolted on the aluminum ones. Talk about an easy upgrade!

Willystylz
My tracking number works now which is a bonus. Its being shipped with Singapore Post although currently says being processed at the warehouse so expect it will still take a while, but at least I know where it is.

Quick question again, with the stock kit setup do your rear shocks rebound ok? Mine are extremely sluggish and dont ever seem to rebound back to normal height......is this normal?

Fronts are better but not by much.........whats the correct way to bleed the shocks?

When you're talking rebound, do you mean the rebound with the shocks installed on the buggy, or during assembly when you put the cap on and the rebound of the shaft pushing outward? If you're talking the rebound when installed on the buggy then it is normal for them not to rebound fully. This is called droop. You can adjust this by using heavier or softer springs or adjusting the preload collar on the shock. Normally with the weight of the buggy, the shock won't rebound to fully extended height. If it is then likely the spring is too stiff and won't handle very well.

When I'm filling the oil in my shocks I normally use the trial and error method. I know there are bleeder holes in the caps and there is a more proper way, but I just do what I'm used to. Basically I fill the oil to just about the top of the shock body with maybe about 1mm to spare. I put the bladder on top and screw the cap on and then check to see how much rebound there is in the shaft. Normally I like to have my shaft rebound out about halfway or so, and then I repeat this for the other 3 shocks and ensure I have approximately the same amount of rebound in all 4.

In case anyone's interested, I'm thinking about selling my like new Xerun 80A ESC with a Speed Passion SilverArrow V2 2160kV sensored motor. Both have exactly half a battery pack through them for testing setup. PM me if you're interested.
