Default MMP fan not suitable for 3s and up?

I have had my MMPnow for about a week, and already burned the fan up (never touched water). I actually managed to solder the connector of it to a veleneon fan and made it to custom fit on my MMP, actually works very well. Well anyways, as I looked for a replacement fan, I noticed that the companies selling them are stating that 5v fans are only good for 2s and lower batteries, whereas 12v fans are for 3s and up. The fan that comes on the MMP is 5v, and I run my buddies 3s sometimes and maybe I'm thinking that's why the fan burned up so quickly?

Fan runs off the internal switching BEC. Which for the MMP, can be set either at 5V or 7V. Doesn't matter if you are running 2S or 3S,4S,5S,6S, the voltage which the fan runs on stays the same.

That being said, what BEC setting is best when running a 2s for the life of the fan?

We are of course aware, that the fan only works when the ESC gets up past 150f?

Technically, it should never come on if you are treating it right.
