Yes, I just got in the mail today!

I've been looking for quite sometime and I finally found a deal that I could afford on a decent condition one.

First priority is to tear it down, clean it up and regrease and oil everything. It's the F-350's older brother in my collection =)

Here are the tires, I cleaned them up and they are now soaking in some rubber restorer. (AKA. Amorall)

Hope to soften them up a little. (They are actually intact, no cracking or dryrot)

Here's a picture of the chassis. It's a little dirty and need some scrubbing... But here you go.

I'm going to keep these tires, they are in almost new condition just a little dry. I think they'll clean up real nice.

Here is the control I'll be using.

It's the Airtronics VG400 - 72mhz FM (shhhh.... it's not quite a surface radio!)
Not my choice, but it came like new with the setup. The plastic film still covers all the shiny plastic!

This runs 4 channels, but includes a Airtronics 7 channel reciever.
Also includes 2 rechargeable battery packs, one for the reciever and one for the transmitter.

I got it for 650 dollars. Found myself quite a deal with the radio and the truck...

---

I just got done testing the three speed transmission, seems to engage nice and smooth. No issues.
Driveshafts are a little worn at the U joints, but that's to be expected.

Here is a picture of how RC was done in 1985. The NERVE center of the bruiser.

I feel guilty, but I only run in my neighborhood, so I doubt I'll have any trouble. I haven't seen another RC car for miles around here!

If I go out, I'll just have to swap in the spektrum dx6.

Yep, I'm replacing the Mechanical Speed Control with a ESC.

Don't worry... I'm not getting rid of the MSC. (For all those who consider it blasphemy to remove such a part from the vintage model).

Well, I cleaned up the outsides of the the 2 axels and all of the 4 wheel hubs this evening.

I also got the 4 tires soaked and softened in some Amorall (they are shiny right now, but once they dry overnite, they'll be natural finish again).

Here is this evenings final progress pic.

Here is the finished product after I stripped it down to parts, cleaned everything, and regreased it.

Turned out pretty good. I'm still working on getting the electronics hooked up.

Looks nice. Never noticed the Hog Heaven before. Definitely add some character to the truck. Have you had a chance to drive it around? How does it handle?
