Ah well, little breaks like that arent really too bad. Just aggrovating to wait on the parts a lot of the time. [8D]

Im still waiting on my puffed lipo to get exchanged from hobbypartz. Should have it this week, so maybe ill finally get to try em out[8D]

45 minute run time is awesome. It makes having a brushless/lipo electric pretty hard to resist when they have that much power and run for that long. [8D]

Hi

First post on the forum and have been reading up on the Thunder Tiger Sparrowhawk XXT. This is going to be my first remote control car so have been trying to find out as much information as i can.

Do you know if I can put a lypo battery in this car? It is going to be all stock (at this stage) so was just trying to find out if I can put a lypo straight in or just buy a Ni-cad? I will also need to by a charger so I was thinking the Swallow as I also have an eflight heli with lypos

I have just moved houses and found out that there is a public rc track down the road from me so very exciting

any help appreciated,

Yes you can run lipo.

First thing I would upgrade is the shocks. Especially if your going to run it at the track .

Have any questions ask away.

Great thats good news that i can run the lypo stock with no other mods

The lypo I am looking at is the ENRICHPOWER 5000mAH 7.4V 40C Hard Case Lipo Race Pack

Not sure if this is any good or not and also a Swallow charger.

Intresting about the shocks, will look into that

Cheers

What helps the stock shocks is taking them apart and using green slime on the orings and when reassembling use some heat shrink on the lower shock caps. Slime to keep them from leaking and shrink tube to hold them together. I use the heat shrink deal on vendetta shocks and it works like a charm.

The XXT's speed controller has lipo cutoff and the esc is somewhat tuneable but you will have to get the program card. I think the program card pn# is aq1712

The enrich power lipos look pretty nice. I have a 3200mah EP lipo on the way.

Have no idea about the charger though. Aslong as it will balance charge a lipo at 5amps I say go for it.

Have to post up some pics when you get the truck.

Great it looks like i am on the right track - this stuff is confusing for a newbie, what is a program card and what is the difference between a 3200mah and 5000?

Basically i am just looking to start with a lypo that i can just throw in there until i learn a bit more about it then start upgrading etc.

Here is the charger that i mentioned:

I am glad Xmas is just around the corner, as i can see a few gift cards coming my way from lol

The program card is used to change settings on the speed controller, like punch (start power) drag brakes, brake power and lipo cutoff. It is very usefull to have.

That charger looks nice but pricey for the features. You looked at hobby king ?

http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbycity/s...idProduct=7028

there zippy and turnigy lipos are real good value also.

diffrence between a 5000mah and 3200mah would be run time. The 5000 is going to last longer but the reason I wanted something smaller is for fit in a 2wd buggy and weight. The 5000 is a pretty big rc. But will work fine in the xxt.

Good to hear about the gift cards, you can send me a few if you like

hey if you dont want to wait for the charger to ship from china you could go for this one just a few dollars more, but orders usually arrive to ky in about 3 days

Only problem is I am located in Australia so shipping might be $$$

I have just been looking at youtube footage and the XXT looks a bit slow on the footage - any ideas as i imagine it would go pretty fast with a brushless motor and 2c lypo?

Dark Asylum is right, Hobby partz does have great deals and very good stuff. There lipos and chargers work very good. But being in australia I doubt they would do the free shipping.

As far as the xxt being slow ? Compared to a touring car yes its pretty slow. But with the stock brushless system and on 2s lipo speeds of 30-35mph can be achieved. Go 3s and you could proably see speeds of 40-50 mph. If your going to drive it on a track it is plenty fast.

Trust me if you have never owned a rc car before it will be plenty fast

Fastest xt or xxt I have seen

It has been mentioned that the XXT has a built in lipo cut off - Does this mean that you cant run the lipos so flat that they can not be charged?

Only if the lipo cutoff doesnt work. If you get the program card you can manually set the cutoff for 2s or 3s batteries. Otherwise it auto detects.

I would have a hard time waiting another month lol

I like the build Markp . How did you make the driveshaft ?

Thanks...I didnt do the initial build, so I am not sure about the driveshaft....looks like the ends were welded on a steel bar

Haven' thought about a center diff...I wonder how hard it would be to install?

Wouldnt think it would be that hard. Proably the hardest part would be making driveshafts and redrilling chassis to mount the center diff and to reposition the motormount.

Could make a very nice 4wd sc truck

The aluminum ones thunder tiger offers.
PN# PD7729
PN# PD7728

The big bores from traxxas fit pretty good also.

They are designed the same but work much better/smoother plus they are threaded so you dont have to use those little clip things to adjust right height.

Those traxxas shocks will work fine also. You will need traxxas springs to go with them

Well my mate went to the local hobby shop where we purchased the cars and asked about shocks - the response was I can only get the same ones that are on it.

Very disappointing response and thank god for these forums - it really helps newbies like me. So now it is time to search ebay as it looks like tiger4u.com is down for maintenace.

Does not look like there are Thunder Tiger shocks pd 7729/8 on ebay so looking at other options such as the big bores. Any idea what exact set i should get (its so confussing), I have looked on ebay and there are soooo many options.

I am lucky that i am finding out what things to replace so come xmas I can unpack it, replase the shocks, out the lipo in and off i go

Cheers
