I wouldnt use the vxl esc.

The best parts of that combo is the castle motor and that high kv is just about useless except for speedruns in a buggy or touring car.

Don't even consider 4s in this truck, I will assume the person who recommended that was thinking you have a 1/8th or a monster truck.
ORIGINAL: Sal Bandini
The 8.5T combo is ideally suited for the Firestorm/Rustler/Desert Truck/Stampede/Slash trucks.

I can't see anyone not being more than happy with this in their trucks.
silly people!

there's a reason I have a 1/8th motor and 4s in my firestorm, because there's no way I'd be happy with that combo!

No buddy, you just like to brag that you have some gear shredding stupid power house, that cant put power down. You dont need 4s, and you dont need 1/8th scale motor either, a properly geared 1:10th scale on 3s will push 70mph, you dont hit 60 i bet

Redvanmafia doesn't understand how KV+big motor+big gearing works.

The bigger the motor, the taller the gear you can run.

The lower the KV the higher the voltage you can run.

The lower the KV the taller the gear you can run.

See where ThunderbirdJunkie is going with this?

Yes, it would be about the right rpm then. hehe. Your servo and rx may not like the lower power.

yea if you are going to do that you may want to look at running some seperate power to those things to keep them running smooth.

it did 66mph off 3s, aerodynamics and lift are much more of an issue than power.

now I'm running a bigger motor and 4s.

so, whats this about me not hitting 60mph ya dumbass?

In my opinion a good charger is a important purchase. Make sure you get acharger that has all the features and charge rates your going to need.

Charger is alsosomething I would spend a little money on and be worry free. This will be my next and last charger for a long time.

Chargers I have owned.

Works good but only at 2.5 amps. Can charge 2 (2s) packs at one time

Duratrax onyx 230, good charger but you have to use a external balancer

Dont forget deans,ec3 or xt60 connectors for your batterys and esc.

I'm guessing the 5700 is the stock motor,

I wouldn't get it, its very wrong for the vehicle, they overheat easily, and are quite slow.

anyone that disagrees with this doesn't have a clue, and hasn't tried a proper motor.

5800kv is TOO MUCH FOR YOUR TRUCK.

If your ESC is still good, buy a 3000-4000kv motor and plug it in and go.
