Just picked up a RC-10T3.
 

So Iscored a decent looking RC-10T3, ready to run, from mister Edward Bay, for $70 shipped. Couldn't pass it up at that price. Has a Futaba Magnum RX/TX setup, what looks like a Futaba steering servo, Novak ESC, and 13T Venom motor.
Ilike the vintage stuff, and don't really race or bash or anything, so I'll probably just rip this bugger up and down the street. Ihave been keeping an eye on RCCA's vintage racing series. Hmmmm......
Ithink Imay replace the body, it looks like it was cut by an ape. Ialways wanted an Associated or Losi truck as a kid, but could never afford to put one together. Istill have plans to find a nice JR-XT to go with this.
Iam wondering if this is a good candidate for a Brushless conversion. Opinions welcomed.

Looks like a nice score!  And the body looks good to me.....  I don't know much about this car's tranny, but I think ANY car is a good car to update with brushless.  Maybe someone around here knows more particulars about the tranny.  I'd think as long as you didn't go TOO power-crazy with a brushless setup you'd be fine.  You know, something modest like a little 35A EZrun system.

Thanks!! The body looks OK, but looking closely at the cut lines makes them look a little wobbly. Might just be how the body distorts at the bottom. I'll probably still get a new body, and paint it how Iwant it. For $70, and considering the parts included, Ican't complain one bit.
Ifeel more confident going brushless with this, than with my Tamiya Hilux Moster Racer, and it's notoriously fragile diff. Imore than likely would keep the power lever fairly tame, which Iimagine would still blow the brushed setup off the road.
I'm just getting back into the hobby, so this is my second truck. Technically third, but I'm selling my Nitro Rustler.

if it was a truck that was raced the tranny is probably ok i have a t3 that's been raced a lot and i went with brushless in it with no problems you just have to make sure the the diff is good and set right. i think the t3 is the most versatile truck associated made.

The ad said it runs great, so we'll see. Iread a fair amount about the RC-10T series, and the common theme is the T3 is the most durable, but parts are hard to come by. They said the T4 handles way better, but since I'm not really planning on racing it, it doesn't matter.

i believe so. if i remember right even the RTR had a ball diff in it.
chassis's were equipped better 10+ years ago

and X2 on the most versatile truck AE ever made. i had one from 1998 to about 2003. possibly my favorite RC iv ever owned.<br type="_moz" />

Ibelieve it is a ball diff, and it has a slipper clutch. I've been doing research on brushless conversions, and apparently these trucks take them well. There's a few vids on youtube of T3's with brushless setups, if you do a search for RC-10T3. Looks like they'll actually handle a good bit of power.

Mine appears to be the Sport model, so I'll be doing a bearing kit and upgrading the dogbones to half-shafts before doing the conversion.

the sport model had dogbones and the team truck had i believe u-joint shafts mine was converted to cvd's soon after i bought it. with parts being phased out when i needed them i just bought a couple of usesd t3's for parts. my original t3 was raced a lot and has every graphite and titanium and aluminun part they made to make it light for racing

The box came today. So Iof course tore into it and started checking the truck out. It looks like it's been pretty lightly used, and is is awesome shape. Everything works great, and it runs its butt off!!Clutch works great as well, with no excessive slip. Diff it also in perfect condition.

It is indeed the Sport. Dogbones, gold shocks, and bushings. Will have to upgrade the axles and bushings. The body looks pretty good in person. Ifeel like Istole this thing for $70 shipped!!

You will have no problem with brushless, have been running mine brushless for a few years,bashing and racing, no problems.
