UPGRADED FOR HIGH SPEED TEST

<div>Hi there!</div><div></div><div>If you like the speed, acceleration emotions and how to upgrade easily a RC buggy, you might like to watch:</div><div></div><div>UPGRADED FOR HIGH SPEED TEST</div><div></div><div>I have just uploaded this movie in my channel and I would like to share it with you:</div><div></div><div><span><font color="#0000ff">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_KvHN_wORs</font></span></div><div></div><div>It begins with a RC buggy in upgrading process to carry out a high speed test. The movie highlights the upgraded points compared to the standards and then it shows the speed test from different camera points of view. Also a head up display gives some interesting data during the test. Finally the movie presents you the results of the speed test and some calculating charts to verify that the data obtained is real.

I hope it will be interesting to you.

Great video man!! I really enjoy your editing as well. Would you mind telling me what program(s) you used to edit the video? I saw some fx that i'd like to try out in future videos!! Thanks!

What battery?

Hello there.

Sorry for my delay.

I would like to answer your questions:
- The editing program that I have used to make this videos is the MAGIC THE LUXE.
- I also have to treat some pictures using the Photoshop, Paint and Power Point applications to create some presentations included in the videos.

As for the batteries.

During the speed test I used three batteries conectec in series. The battery manufacturer is: VTEC LRP. Technical features: 2S 5200 mAh 7.4V
You can get more information about these batteries here:

That's insane. At it's peak it was putting at almost 5 horsepower!

20vtrojo 03-13-2014 10:12 AM

Well, we have to take in to account that this is not exactly the power that pushes the buggy. 3735Watt (5.078HP) That is the theoretical power that the three batteries connected in series may deliver to the Electronic Speed Control (150 Amp X 24.9 Volts) . After that we have several vampires that drain power like the ESP itself, motor (depending on its efficiency) and all the drive-shafts, differential and gears that participate to deliver the power to the wheels. All of them drain power when they have to deliver it. And besides, after all, we have the wheel slippery in case of instant acceleration. Therefore, the power used to thrust the buggy is something like the half of the battery potential or even less.

Hi mates!

I'd like to explain how I got the Head Up Display data:

Well, to get this data results I've fitted inside the buggy a GPS to record data in real time like: the instantaneous speed, averages, circuit track, etc. Then, taking in to account the technical features of the motor, the ESC and the transmission setup and the wheel diameter, I got equations to calculate, also in real time, the current drawn from the battery, the power and the motor RPM (provided the wheels not slip). (To obtain the motor temperature I used a IR Gun). So, I consider the final results are close to the real ones.

Now, I make use of the opportunity to invite people that enjoy these kind of vids to watch some other productions in my channel here below:

And one more time: Thank you for watching!

You seem to have gone to great lengths calculating the different aspects and I commend you for it. But as I'm sure you know there is some margin for error in those calculations especially when trying to calculate amp draw. Amp draw varies widely according to load, which encompasses everything from gearing, tire size, vehicle weight and drag. I think you'd be surprised if you saw a graph of amp draw as the load and therefore amp draw is actually highest from a stop. Anyway, I just wanted to point out one way to eliminate or minimize the error in some of the calculations. There is a product called an "Eagletree Datalogger" and it records the amperage used over time and displays it in graph form on your computer. They are not that expensive and are the most accurate way to measure amperage (and I believe voltage) during a run.

Just thought id id mention it since you seem very interested in those aspects of the vehicle. I've seen some videos where the Eagletree data was overlaid at the bottom of the screen in real time as well. Cool video as is though. Nice job!

Well, once you get the calculating table with the formulas fitted, you only have to insert the variables (time, space, speed, RPM, buggy weight, transmission ratio, wheel diameter, acceleration, etc. Then you can get power, torque and with these results you come to the voltage & current. This work is not so hard. The big deal was to edit the Head Up Display to show the different values as the car was moving. I wanted to go as close as possible like if a telemetry device was fitted inside the car. The torque and current (which are very related in the calculations) were always calculated for flat conditions. Because otherwise it would have been to insert coefficients which had made all too much complex. I agree with you that a telemetry/data logger equipment is more accurate, so it will be my next goal. And I could see how are the deviations in compare with my calculations.

Anyway, I appreciate very much all your comment and I am glad that you have liked this video. Now I invite you to explore my channel and if you consider it you also are invited to subscribe.
