Rustler shock and body upgrade suggestions
Since I got my Rustler back up and running, I have started bashing quite a bit more. I have built a pretty large jump for it and am destroying rear shocks left and right. I have a small collection of random shocks from different models that I have been using, but most don't last any longer than a battery pack before I blow the top-cap off or break the rod ends. Currently I am using an aluminum set (integy??) that is pretty old, but still works well. The shocks themselves are pretty tough. The problem is that the rod ends keep popping off the shock shafts or breaking during hard landings and subsequently causing other parts to break (CVD's).
Does anyone have suggestions on a more robust set of rod ends that will fit the shocks, or a different set of shocks all together that can take a significant amount of abuse? I don't need them to be fancy racing shocks or anything like that. I just want them to take a massive beating. I'm also looking for suggestions on bodies/roll cages since my current body is getting pretty trashed and the mounting holes are starting to rip to the point that the body clip pulls through the body itself. Thanks! |
id recommend the stock shocks. If u are popping the top cap off there is something going on.....
I suspect the bottom ballend was not tensioned all the way down causing the sock shaft to hit the top cap.... or someone has removed the bumpstops or it never had any. For durability I would recommend the stock shocks, with Traxxas or STRC alloy caps, Traxxas TiN coated shafts, RPM shock ends. with a 5mm length of fuel nitro fuel hose to use as a bumpstop Failing that... revise ur driving |

Do those RPM shock ends fit basically any shocks, or do I have to measure the diameter of the shocks I currently have? I like the fuel line idea. I think I have some laying around, so maybe I'll try that. Does anyone make aluminum shock ends? I'm sure they wouldn't pop off...
Body/cage suggestions for something that will last longer and take some abuse? |

Yep the RPM shock ends will fit any 3mm shock shaft.
dont know about the alloy ends, I'm doubtful the spring retainer will fit. As as for the body http://youtu.be/VTe-mLX8pmI |
I had a steel Integy cage and the only downside was that it made the car top heavy and not fun to put the battery in/take it out. However, it was nice not having to worry about bodies and if you keep it long enough, it's cheaper. If you do go with a cage I highly recommend you take a look at the aluminum ones out there since they are much lighter than Integy's steel cages.
