i am really thinking of putting wider tires on it for running, will a tire from TLT or Pumpkin fit without mods?

Hey. I was thinking of getting one but have never built a kit before. Would this be hard to do? And how much speed can I expect from this.

I just built a hilux and the drivetrain seems a bit noisy. Anybody else have this problem?? The truck seems to run fine though.

Can anyone give me any direction on wiring my F350 Highlift with lights without spending $400 for the MultiFunction Control Unit? Please.

Looks like its been awhile since anyone has been posting on this truck, but I was curious if anyone else had problems with the front/rear ends and getting the steering arms to line up properly and still allow it to freely spin?  Going off the instructions I've followed everything to a T with parts and the steps.  <div>
</div><div>Where the BD7 Short wheel axles pass through the steering arm it seems to be binding and putting excess pressure causing the axle to turn extremely hard.  In the pics shown on this forum topic I see two bearings on the steering ends, but in the instructions it shows one toward the inner side of the steering arm.  Am i missing something, or did the instructions not call for enough of them in there?  ANy help would be great as I am STUCK right now.</div><div>

Just read through most of this thread. Haven't bought a kit to build in a while and I think this might be my next project. Although I prefer the Hilux look over the F350

New Tamiya High Lift owner thinking this thread needs to be revived. With the popularity of trail trucks these days it's time to break out the F350's and Hilux, hit the trails and show all new comers to the scale truck world how Tamiya does it. Ok so the truck and it's technology are a little dated. However with a little work they can be just as capable and very cool.

Mine for example (pics to come) looks stock. However eagle eyed owners will pick up on the mods quickly. Like a Junfac four link kit, rear lock outs, and drive shafts. I used Tl04 aluminum front bearing carriers. RC4WD 1.9 Rock Crushers, Maximizer bead locks. Most notable though is the gearbox up motor down kit. It raises the gearbox 21mm, then moves the motor down between the frame rails and to the front. This requires you to move the shift servo to the rear of the cab and secondly required a body lift since the cab mount now sit on the servo mount. About the only real mods were some cutting to the cab mount so the raised gearbox would poke through. Also cut the skid plate mount the at the flange and the sides off the skid plate itself. It now sit flush with the Junfac four link side mounts. The result much better ground clearance.

I also made a tonneau cover for it using two .040" pieces of black Evergreen styrene sandwiched together, mounting it with four magnets. I used a tab to lift it off. I could almost lift the truck with it. Perhaps too many magnets.

I'll get pics up soon in order to revive some of you other highlift owners.

Please note since pictures were taken I have since mounted the steering servo in between the frame rails in the front of the motor. Works great, look scale.

Just finished building my F350 today. Still have to paint it, but need to wait for warmer weather so I can paint it in the polebarn.
I have one question, I would like a little bigger tire, and nicer rims. What will fit without modifying the chassis or body? The stock T&R combo just doesnt look right for me.

Motor Upgrade

I ran it with the stock motor, too slow. Tried a Tamiya Race Tuned Motor, too slow. Tried a Traxxas Titan 550 with XL5 esc, no big gain. I know its not a race truck, but I need more speed than what it has now. Motor upgrade ideas?????
