Tamiya Subaru brat

Is this any good? my dad bought my mom a Midnight Pumpkin(vintage 80's) and my mom said he has to get one so I'm helping him. Is this truck any good?

Lunchboxer 07-09-2007 01:59 PM

RE: Tamiya Subaru brat

You have the coolest mom then.. LOL! :D

It is basically a Frog w/ truck body and scale tires.. it is pretty durable.. but it won't be as high performance as all the latest racing trucks.. (got to remember this is a 20 yrs old design!)

Will be tons of fun, though!! :D

The Brat aint no slow poke either. Big 540 can and all RWD? Okay it's not great off road but it's still pretty damn quick.

Just be very careful when turning, to say that the Brat is top-heavy is an understatement. Oh you have a Lunchbox. That's okay then!

Chris.

The brat or the pumpkin?

I prefer the scale looking stuff. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The old frog chassis is a blast - takes me back.

Yep, sold the body, sold the brushless, then sold the brat....

Shame, really, it turned out pretty nice! I think those funds went toward the Baja 5b..

Well it is more of a scale look. What recently attracted me to the re releases is the "boxy" looks. I like my buggies to look like buggies as I cruise around. But that is because I don't race. I plan to pick up a frog soon not because I owned the original (I'm just out of college) it' because of the character the model has.

Oh and I love building.

That's a cool brushless Brat! I haven't seen anybody else go brushless in these. I'm getting the Mamba Max 7700kv for my Frog.

Lunchboxer 07-10-2007 11:12 PM

RE: Tamiya Subaru brat

LOL, MM7700kv Frog... Hmm...... not sure if it can put that power to the ground or not.. so light and RWD only.. mostly wheelspin, I guess, ha!!

screaminglife 07-10-2007 11:19 PM

RE: Tamiya Subaru brat

it will go like 50 mph!!!

in a completely uncontrollable spin out.....

Blazerbogger 07-11-2007 06:11 PM

RE: Tamiya Subaru brat

Yea, I would expect that! It will aslo be going into a couple of 4WDs though. I will post a video when I get it.
