RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
So here's my line of thinking atm...
stick with the 5700 just for kicks, pick up a MMp, then a 3s lipo with a 25 or 30C rating, correct? I know that's rediculously fast, but that's fine with me. I gotta get 2 2S packs for my e-buggy conversion (in process) anyway. So if I don't like the 3S, I'll just use the 2S's. Checking a gear calculator right now to see what it recommends for gearing. Also grabbing a fan from CC and just gonna cut the motor gaurd so i can attach it. Also, does any know if the MMp is good with 2.4 GHz systems? Specifically a Futaba FASST 3PM. I had an issue with my stock FLUX esc not liking the system at all. Checking ebay, found a few people that make wheelie bars, might grab one of those too for it. Unless someone knows another place, maybe more reliable, where I can procure one. |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I had the banzai bar and it got bent repeatedly. I got the T bone racing rear bumper and wheelie bar and love it :)
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I'm pretty sure it's a T-bone, not sure...might be the banzai. Thanks for the headsup
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
You will melt the 5700 on 3s and it is a banzai bar.
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I am not rushing to buy anything but whats been on my mind is a crawler, blitz ESE or baja. I want the ESE to get parts off of.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
the Flux 5700 is just a recanned CC CM36 5700. Castle website shows the the 5700 can handle 3s MAX but you have to gear it low and you can't use the stock sidewinder esc, (esc in the FLUX is just a re-stickered sidewinder. lol.) which can only handle a 2s pack or 7 NiMh.
http://www.castlecreations.com/products/cms36-5700.html - CM36 5700 info http://www.castlecreations.com/suppo...ring_chart.pdf - motor + esc + battery combo for CC motors. (says a 5700 can be used with 3s but not with a sidewinder esc, only a MMp + low gearing) The bar I found on ebay is from TBR. (T-Bone Racing) Not a banzai. Added a front and rear bumber set to my list for this project. Also a new clear body. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120611732282 As for batteries, I can't seem to find an 3s lipo with anything higher than a 20C. Am I just not looking in the right places or are the higher voltages lower C's? New to this electric stuff.... |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Any of you guys try the Dynamite Fuse brushless combos? I found one at a lhs for $125 but couldn't see what the kv was on the box. it was locked in a glass case and the clerk wasn't up to opening the case for a peek. I haven't seen any reviews on it.
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I looked at the dynamite stuff but don't think its sensored which is what I was looking for.
There should be plenty of batteries with high C-ratings. They are all over ebay and hobby king and there are manufacturers like Thunderpower, maxamps, reedy and venom that make higher c-rated batteries. |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
here is the banzai bar on ebay.. http://cgi.ebay.ca/BanzaiBars-Wheeli...item334d3960dd
And yes you can run the 5700 on 3s with the MMp esc but you will still overheat it, Trust me we have seen many firestorm owners over the years and they all have failed. its much better to go lower KV and gear up for speed... But give it a try just have a temp gauge handy and check temps every 5 minutes. |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I would stick with the TBR...I have had both TBR holds up better :) just my .02
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
It does look better, I was just showing him the banzai does exsit.
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I know it exists, just thought that you thought the one I was talkin bout was a Banzai. Miscommunication. xD
Also, I think a set of piggy back shocks would be wicked on this thing. Anyone know where a set is that would be compatable? And are MaxAmp batteries really worth the price? they seem super high Found this at hobbypartz.com http://www.hobbypartz.com/83p-4000mah-3s1p-111-30c.html |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I think I am going to get a CF chassis next month but want opinions on which one. Here is the extreme RC page: http://www.xtremercracing.com/FIREST...ESTORM&Sortby=
Right now I am liking plain black or CF finish but can't decide on the extended or regular length chassis. The downside of the longer chassis is that I can't use regular fs bodies but I have access to SC truck bodies which I think are ugly (but there is more selection). The upside is stability and I plan on upgrading the motor and power significantly. The problem I have with the extended chassis is that I am essentially making a blitz without the 360 degree bumpers. I hope there are deals at the hobby show in two weeks. |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I have a funny feeling that they will want more then what we can get it off the net for.....hope not.
|
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Those chassis' look wicked. Deff added to my hop-up list.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
I used an HPI Blitz Rear Brace and Rear Skid to give me some added protection for the motor. I've run the TBR rear bumber but have broken them three times! No experience with their wheelie bar though. I think these Blitz parts on the E-Firestorm looks great with the Pro-Line Baja Bug body.

I really like that body and am thinking of doing a bug body for one of my trucks this winter.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
ORIGINAL: redfisher1974 What are you geared at with the 5700kv and are you running 2s. Pinion is still the stock 19T, which is really pushing it especially with those Pro-Line Gladiator tires which are heavier and a little taller than stock tires. On a hot day motor temps can approach 180 in this setup but I haven't seen over that temperature yet. Sidewinder ESC only gets warm so no issues there. I like the speed I'm getting out of this thing so I'll keep running the 19T and keep monitoring temps. If it does start going over 180 frequently than I'll gear down. |
RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread
Sounds about right, I sold my havoc and ordered a MM 4600kv which I plan on trying 3s with 18/87 and see what the temps are like.

Check back to post #2942 from 21 Sep 2009 in this thread for pictures taken right after I finished the body. This link might get you to it: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_72...tm.htm#9112229 |
