Could somebody please explain the difference between the stock dogbones and the new CVDs? I have no clue and was curious about the advantages of the CVDs.

I have not tried those yet, still using the rs4mt cvds. I might have to switch them later on.
I checked tower yesterday and they have them in stock.

Yes the ones I am using are the MIP ones.

I'm building an addtional Firestorm from parts and was wondering what the best way is to line up the servo so it is centered. I'm thinking that I should install it while it is powered up with the trim centered and the wheels lined up as straight as possible. I'm not sure it is that critical since I guess there some tolerance by adjusting the trim is off, but any suggestions are welcome.

B44&501xRacerEX ,are the cvd's from the MT a direct bolt on?

jkgonzo 01-14-2009 05:21 PM

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Yes the MT's are a direct bolt in. The drive "T" on the end of the shaft isn't as thick as the firestorm and the thread for the wheel nut seems to be a tad bit shorter, but they do work. I just use blue threadlock on both the rear wheel nuts. My drivers side seemed to come loose often even with the firestorm axles so I just lock-em on............

Is that a zippy lipo?

........I need a lipo for my firestorm...The tenergy batt. just doesnt cut it anymore...

eaterofdog 01-17-2009 07:14 AM

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

Yeah it's a zippy flightmax. Works great.

I still need to get my brushless setup. I spent the money on the spektrum.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

I got the spektrum installed. Gotta love those tiny antennas.

I got a $2 lipo monitor. When the cells go below 3.3 volts they change to red. Just look in the wheel well to check the batteries.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

just would like to pass this on.i didnt feel like spending the 40 or so bucks on the hpi threaded shocks so i found some HPI super shocks on ebay for around 20 bucks or so.they ae easy to assemble and super smooth.i dont care for the threaded bodies anyway or the gold color.and the aluminum bodies look cool.i also wanted to add some color so i used some RPM blue long shank rodends with my HPI titanium tierods.the RPMS would not work with the stock suspension balls so i outfitted the whole truck with ASSOCIATED suspension balls.the are inexpensive.just an idea if anyone cares.i wish i knew how to post pics.

Here's mine. Since these photos, I've moved the rear tires to the front and installed Pro-Line Badlands in the rear. I have also added a set of HPI aluminum shocks front and rear. It handles like a dream and really tears up the dirt.

I just checked me spur and pinion gears and my spur shows signs of wear. The teeth seem to be worn down about 1/16 or more. I have run it apx ten battery packs and I am not sure it is normal. Could the pinion have been set to close from the factory?

Is there any chance of getting Rims from an Associated truck to fit the E-Firestorm? Maybe take of the hex hubs?

It could be that or if you've landed on the rear end from a jump. I did that and it ate my spur right up the next time I gassed it. T-bone racing makes a bumper for the rear (and front) the helps keep that from happening.

RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

thanks.... but will i have to go to a traxxas hex? or will it fit the stock hpi hex?
