Best 1/8 E Buggy?

I'm looking to get back into racing. I don't see many post for 1/8 scale, and I was just wondering what everybody thought. Right now I'm leaning towards the OFNA Hyper 9 or the Associated RC8. I don't like the Losi becarus they force you to buy their motor and ESC.

They dont force you to buy with it, it simply comes with it.

FWIW, I have have very good luck with my converted RC8. It started life as the basic nitro RTR, which I ran last season at the local club. I converted it to electric using the AE kit this spring, using a MMMv3 esc and 2200kv motor combo. I have not had a single issue with the chassis all season, it handles well, plenty of power, and I've been finishing mid-pack or better every race I've run, even on the stock RTR tires. I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the current 1/8 scale cars as long as you do your research and get the right running gear.

That is the same thing. The Losi is $900, while most other E buggies are around $400. Since you can pick up a Novak(I like Novak) ESC motor combo for around $250, that means that the Losi is $650 for just the car. Is the Losi really worth the extra $250 over the other guys?

The front shock towers have a problem breaking.

On what? If you have the old version of the 2.0 you can call up Losi and they will send you the new beefed up shock tower no questions asked.

I think the difference is that the Losi kit is the exact same thing as the 2.0 race roller, but the Associated kits have soem RTR parts on it, thats why it is cheaper.

Wow, I though there would be more opinions out there.

Then you should probably post in the 8th scale buggy forum...

I would personally pick any major 1/8 buggy and they convert it using a RCM Motor Mount and a RCM Battery Tray.

Whatcha mean by that? Sure I've heard of Caster, there's one at the local track. One of the guys at our track drives one, but he could probably beat most of us with a converted Ofna Ravager, so it's tough to tell how much of it is the car and how much the driver...

RE: Best 1/8 E Buggy?

Thats true. But i can only say from experience that this thing is tough (countless flips). Keep your own opinion about it, But i all I have to say is, the only problems i have with it, are what would occur on any normal 1/8 brushless buggy.
Ect: The pinion coming loose, somthing happening to batteries or just some freak electronic issue that has nothing to do with the car.
