Awesome build by the way and amazing pics! I have a Buggy Champ and plan on picking up the scorcher bodykit asap! I use it as a "daily driver" and I love it! Might hafta just pick up the Scorcher kit and build it as a shelfer! Have my cake and eat it too! ha ha Do you plan on posting any action shots or video? I'd love to see. Here's the Champ. I also included a couple shots of the battery and the diagram showing the dimensions i used.

<div>i would love to build a class 5 replica. i think it would work perfect for a lot of the bashing i do.</div><div>how's the aftermarket support? is there very much out there in the way of rims, tires, and chassis upgrades? how's the overall durability out of the box?</div>

RE: Official Tamiya Sand Scorcher Re-Release thread
Hey Guys
I just built my reissue Sand Scorcher and am having a ball. The only problem is that the torsion bar rear suspension is waayyy too stiff for this car. It causes the rear end to bounce around and flip the car sometimes for no reason. Anyone know of any rear suspension mods that will soften up the travel a bit? BTW, I saw the camber mod kit above but it retains the torsion bars and wouldn't really help. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. -s |
RE: Official Tamiya Sand Scorcher Re-Release thread
G'day everyone,I've still got my originals, although the ss is now only shelf queen and the rr is waiting for a complete rebuild.I have a BC up and running and will, when the missus isn't looking start on the SS reissue.
spessx what I did with the originals (both) was bend the torsen bars where they go into the brass tube up until I got the required softness, the originals were a lot stiffer than the reissues are. cheers glenn. |

RE: Official Tamiya Sand Scorcher Re-Release thread
I just finished my 2010 sand scorcher re-issue. It's all stock except for the aluminum rims. I'm running the stock 540 motor with a 7.2 Nimah hump pack. The paint is metallic orange laquer and white laquer with 5 coats of clear laquer over it. I put in the high gears, and it's pretty fast for being stock. It will pull wheelies on the carpet and squeel the tires across my kitchen floor. I haven't ran it outside yet because i'm waiting for the weather to warm up. I'm using a 2.4 g Radio and reciever, the stock speed controller and a futaba servo for the steering. I was never able to get one of these back in 1979(i was 10 years old then) but, now I was finally able to get one, and I love it!

RE: Official Tamiya Sand Scorcher Re-Release thread
Here is my new shelf queen, a Christmas present for 2010. Usually build Tamiya rc full option tanks now days and built a Rough Rider in the 1980's, so is was pretty fun to get.
Anyway both vehicles came from good old Dr Porsche's design studio, well kinda. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...sn/biggrin.gif John |
Anyone know if it would be possible to remake the Ford Ranger with this kit . I'm thinking a Blackfoot body and Subaru Brat tires and wheels . You all think I'm on the right track . I got the idea from this vid
