Just plug them into the ESC and then you will be able to tell.

since its a sensorless system, so it doesn't matter the order, but you may find the motor will run backwards and switch the two outside wires on the motor, and that should get you going strait

the lug

RE: Brushless and ESC - how to connect

As mentioned, the three motor wires can be connected in any order to the motor wires on the ESC. If it spins the wrong direction (foward throttle makes the car go backwards) just disconnect and swap position of any two wires (don't do all three or you will be back where you started).

I know this has already been said, but I mostly posted because I wanted to add that you should shrink wrap or somehow cover those bullet connectors (on the ESC side) so they cannot short together when the motor is running. Maybe you already knew this, but just in case, I wanted to save you a damaged system from a short.

If you still have trouble (10 years later, haha. I know this thread is old), then you can also hopefully make some adjustments on your transmitter. I'm guessing if you have upgraded ESC and motor, you probably opted for a new receiver/transmitter as well. Some of those transmitters allow you to change between reverse/normal.
