Hi,
looking for a cheap rc car (~$50-60) but all the ones I come across dont have proportional steering. Just full left/right and center. And the ones that have full control are in the $150+ range.
Any suggestions, pointers to where I could try finding such cars would be greatly appreciated.

That's probably as cheap as it's going to get for a hobby grade RTR. That has full proportional control, ability to replace parts/upgrade, etc. Anything less than that will be more of a toy, and will be unlikely to have proportional control or be able to be modified.

I dissagree right thurr, for the 50-60 dollar range I got a redcat racing sumo, its 1/24 scale full proportional steering and throttle, brake and reverse.
I would recomend bearings though for another 12 bucks.

I forgot to mention, I was interested only in On-Road. Truck/OffRoad/Buggy or Micro is not quite what I am interested in.
My budget is not set in stone. I mean if the cheapest kit or rtr is in the ~$100 range then it is what it is. I am fine bumping my budget up to that point.

What about the Ofna jl10e (non-drift version) ? or the Tamiya Enzo Ferrari TT01 ?

TT01 is a good starter car. Isay starter because you'll quickly want something better.

The TT-01 would be great. Easily upgradable later.

tt01 is a fun car and if you get kit, i bet a 5 yr old can build it and probally the most upgradeable onroad out thier

The best one you can buy for the cheapest price is the XX Monster 1/10 or 1/16 scale monster trucks. They are suppose to be weatherproof, have parts avalibility, and and be very similar to a Tamiya something. Here's a thread link:      http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9938129/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm

Well looks like its going to be between the Losi Micro Rally and the TT-01 (with Esc, not mechanical). I am leaning a little bit towards the Losi. Any particular pros and cons of the TT-01 over the Losi ? I realize the TT-01 will require a radio but I do have an old pistol grip lying around that I could use. Just didn't want to waste it on a basic car. but still I am open for it.
Please advise.

I personally would go with the TT01. Not a fan of smaller sub 1/10th scale.

Are you looking for a kit or RTR? If you want a kit then the Ofna jl10e is a good choice. I heard a lot of good things about it and am actually planning on picking one up for myself to run during the wet season. For a RTR there is a thread here with a Thunder Tiger Sparrow Hawk which looks pretty nice as well. The only thing is for either of those cars I have no idea how far you can upgrade them down the line. If you want to invest in Hop Up's as time progresses the TT-01 might be your best choice. Keep in mind though if you get a TT-01 you will need a full set of bearings and I highly suggest a aluminum motor mount and propeller shaft.
