Please help me decide on a shaft-driven 4WD 10th scale onroad car
Hello all
I want a car, that has fantastic factory support, has a wide range of aftermarket mods/ upgrades, and can transform from indoor carpet to the street for bashing and transform again into a rally car. It must be shaft-driven, either ball diffs or gear diffs are okay. Another requirement is that it is a lipo/ BL friendly car.
Suggestions?

Well, seeing as you love Tamiya I figure you've had a TT-01. That is what I use for a rally car. The kits are cheap, and the hop-ups to make it perform reasonably aren't too much. I run mine as a rally car but it can handle on the street too. A TC4 might be something to look into, I am actually looking into getting a roller when I find a decent one on evil-bay. Plenty of hop-ups too, which i'm sure you already know. I wish there was a bigger R/C scene around here so I could find stuff on craigslist.

You know, I miss my TC5 FT car, because the ball diffs were indestructable, and was boss candidate for insane speed run records. So the TC4 would kinda make sense. Also I wonder if a TB03 VDS would be able to handle it, but when I saw the price tag, I thought I'd rather spend it on off-road, since I haven't been in it for a while but still follow it.

2. TB03: More pricey yet you still have to beef up the drivetrain with alu diff joints, alu prop shaft and joints (stock are soft metal) and alu motor adaptor.
3. TT01: Fun cheap car but needs hop ups unless you get the TT01r e if you want to use brushless. The max brushless I will use on that car will be 6000kv.

Does Tamiya still sell all parts available to convert a TB03 into an R version? Yeah the TC4 is wicked sweet too but it's the last on-road from AE to be in the english measurement system instead of mm for screws, and I've already conerted all my tools to metric. A titanium AE TC5 screw set would probably fix that problem I suppose though. But if I get an AE car those socks are coming off and I'll install those superior TRF dampers instead } ~<

The tt01e will work well rallying and bashing but won't keep up with the others in a competitive indoor carpet race.

It would be cool if the TC4 factory team kit was easier to find. Even better if there was a tc4 kit

not in australia, you will be lucky to find a used tc3 or tc4. But for $250 RTR, it will be better to get a TA05V.2

I have to go with the TC4 as well. I bought one and only a few months later I bought one and am currently rebuilding one. It is great.

Hop Ups and Spares are coming in for the ta06 dragnes7en
So I don't think this is one of those limited edition chassis stuff. Anyone notice a pattern in the release dates of tamiya ta cars?

the tc4 is a good choice i like mine allot but it really not brushless ready. to have it reliable you will need steel out driver in the back you can get away with the plastic out drives in front to save a little money but you will want then in the front sooner or later. the plastic out drives will start slipping when heat caused from friction starts to melt the out drive. you will also need the alloy cvd's in back at least. a brushless setup on 3 cells will brake them regularly

In the mean time, my hands are full with a new, small yet potentially huge upgrade to both TA05 cars, and adding a Losi Ten SCTE to my brood. None of the above will happen in that order except for the TA05s, since I'm in the middle of racing them.

RE: Please help me decide on a shaft-driven 4WD 10th scale onroad car
The JL10e is a lot of car for the money. I picked one up for my son new for $115. We already had a Hitec servo and a receiver so it was a low dollar build, it's powered by a Castle Sidewinder V2 / 6900 combo that we picked up for $99. We're more into off road so he hasn't put a lot of runs on it but it's a rocket ship and seems to be a pretty solid car. We used a HPI #7435 Porsche 911 body that fits like it was made for the car. There are already some aftermarket and OFNA hopups but OFNA support is OK, not fantastic. I don't know of any dealers around us that stock a lot of Tamiya, so if you go Tamiya it would most likely be mail order.

I have no idea. I do see a lot of people talking about the TC4 more than they do the TC3.

RE: Please help me decide on a shaft-driven 4WD 10th scale onroad car
Wait - I have to scrap the idea of converting any on-road car whatsoever into a rally. My two main reasons are:
- The gear ratio; if you think the motor gets hot enough on-road, well then . . . I can't use on-road gear ratios for this.
- I have yet to see any 4WD touring sedan come equipped with a slipper clutch.

convert a nitro RS4 to electric, and then rally
I did a Nitro RS3 MT2 but its a tad long to fit 1/10th car bodies on(the savage bodies fit pretty nice though). I'm gonna try and make it work on a normal RS4 Chassis soon so the 1/10th TC bodies will work

I'll keep that in mind if I see a RS4 roller. I liked the original electric RS4
