Thanks hoss - I can't wait to drive this thing around whenever it stops raining! It didn't rain yesterday, but I was too busy too try it out. Soon soon.

I have a question, what parts did you use from the tt01 gear bag

I used the large bevel gears from that parts bag - not the small planetary bevel gears that go on the three-pronged shaft. I still needed the 9mm washers for them, the same way the original gear diff on the TA02 is built.

Doahh, you have inspired me to get a beaten rc car and make it new again, I already have the Tamiya TA05v.2r, Tamiya TA06 pro and a HPI Savage Flux XS on my mind [&:]

Cool! There's plenty of them out there on eBay, waiting to go to a good home, and wanting some good ol' TLC.

Not to be off-topic, I'm restoring a 1985/6 AE "caddillac era" RC10 gold pan buggy right now. That's why I haven't visited here as much as I do lately.

Thats good to know, I have some TA02 and some FF parts, probably enough to make 2 cars but I know some of the gearboxes are in need of gears and I have a TT01 gear set somewhere in the stash so I could use a couple of those gears

Cool Don't forget the M05 gearbox joints, b/c the TT-01 bevel gears would be useless without them!

You just inspired me to look up on craiglist for and old onroad I can fix up. I found the best deal of the century a TC5 or TC6, 4 brushless motors, 5 escs, and a lipo balancer. All for $75.

Why thank you!

Unfortunately, my brother and I haven't been talking since, so it's his loss, not mine. Whenever he wants to start talking to me again, it's all his. Until then, I'm not going to let it just sit there!!!

Looks great man! Just one thing you refer to the diffs as ball diffs but they aren't, they are just the standard Tamiya bevel gears, not sure of the official name.

Ido not understand what you're saying. Perhaps you should re-read the entire thread, especially post#25. I only mentioned rebuilding the original ball diff, but I put it in the spare parts bag. Post #25 shows all the parts for the 2nd gear diff and TT-01/ M05 parts updates

Gear diffs?
Yes, definitely gear diffs! The splines on the original gear box joints would quickly strip out, so that's exactly why I updated them and the diffs, and made a 2nd gear diff. Since I couldn't find anything to convert the ball diff's gearbox joints, I opted for a tougher, more maintenance-free gear diff. Remember, I'm using a Mamba Max Pro esc and a CM36 4600Kv sensorless motor in this beast . . .

My cousin and I each bought the same ball diffs for our M03-L Mini Coopers, and the splines on both of the gear box joints failed after one run; and we were only using brushed motors. He had a Trinity P2K2 pro stock motor, and I was using a Trinity CO27 pro stock. Cheap parts, or just not designed for anything outside of the Mabuchi 540 realm
