Interesting to see all the Traxxas bashing that was going on in the last thread before the release and now in this thread. Look I am no fan boy and I will never own one cuz I just don't do electric but it is one kick arse ride. We have a place where alot of us drag race here in Miami and quite a few of the electric guys are hitting over 100mph. We have Bajas doing over 80 and some really fast nitros as wek. Agree it's not for everyone but it is pretty impressive out of the box.

Show me where there is any Traxxas bashing in this thread? Also the other thread about the XO1 has been closed.

Except for the following
1. At the bottom of the page, Traxxas states that you need an ipod touch or iphone, with Traxxas' "traxxas link" app in order to "unlock" the full speed of 100mph
2. It's based off the 4x4 stampede. This wouldn't be a problem, but it retains the suspension of the 4x4 stampede. That said, it's not going to handle as well as an actual touring car.
3.Because they decided to keep the long suspension arms of the 4x4 stampede, it takes a larger (1/7) body to cover the wheels. So standard car bodies won't fit it.
4.Since they decided to make it this odd size, standard car wheels and tires won't fit it. It uses a a special tire and wheel with a 17mm hex
5. It needs two 3s lipos to achieve these high speeds.

Not saying it's a terrible car, but it definitely isn't the perfect speed vehicle.

I could see its price if they included an ipod touch or an Iphone to unlock its potential with the RC
But as said it looks like they recycled a lot of slash/pede 4X4 parts.

I fear the "Genius" that tries to follow it in his full scale car on the interstate... "You drive the big car, I'll ride shotgun and drive the RC" [&:]

Its not terribly huge, but I'd like to see how they drive on a track. Most of the on road tracks I've seen are 10th scale friendly. While running 8th scales are like Prom Night in the back of a Volkswagen.

I have a feeling this thing will only be good in a straight line that is soooo smooth!
Turning may not be a good thing at even half speeds.....

On-road isn't my thing but it looks cool and I want the esc for my e-revo and I'm looking at what parts I could fit on to my current crop of rc's.

You guys realize that it's got a half inch of ground clearance, right? It's a big car. On 4S or 5S, it'd be an awesome parking lot basher.

You would have to have a really BIG EMPTY parking lot to run it in.. I wonder if the airport would let me use their runway to drive it on.

on 4S? it'd probably do 60 on 4S, it doesn't need to go 100 all the time.

It does look impressive underneath the body I must admit. The design is like an upscaled 1/10th, very simple chassis, I would kinda like one now even though I think the concept is a bit silly and I just don't know where I'd use it... I have a nasty feeling this might end up being my first traxxas [&:] Would love to see it next to an Inferno GT or DM one, get an idea of its size.

Id rather spend $1000 on something else.
For that price you can buy 2 Tamiya TRF kits that are actually superior in every aspect at half the price.

Where would you run a 100 MPH car anyways, a drag strip maybe? Or maybe a real nascar track.
It will be a challenge to find somewhere to run a big car like that.[]

CAI FTW!!!

traxxas was close on this one, but fail in my book.

Traxxas needs a new onroad. the 4tec is how old???

while there are some re-used parts, there is still alot of 1-off stuff on this chassis.

but this mess about iphone and apps to hit 100mph is crap! what do phones and RC have to do with eachother.

would have been better if they had just sold it as a 60mph car with a 190mm WB and a VXL system.

i have driven some pretty fast onroads, and you need a VERY nice surface when you are hitting speeds over 50mph. Thus, there are limited areas to run a 100mph car.

I see this car being like the blinged out HPI baja's you see on youtube. They look awsome, and the performance is amazing....but hardly ever run!!!

I will say this, that body is awsome! Props for traxxas on a good looking 1/7 car. Maybe they will get smart, like HPI did with the flux and make a toned down version.

Just sell us one with a vxl system, and none of the iphone crap, put the regular 2.4 radio in it and $200 less and you may have a good seller!!!!

4s could be a hoot!
Pushing close to 70 on 4s....
And I have a bunch of 5s packs that I could use to for mid 80's?
And to be honest, I have my eye on a speed control that can take 8s!

i wish the would sell the car with the vxl system, standard 2.4ghz radio and setup to run on 3s.
im sure it could do 50mph on 3s.
oh, and sell it RTR without the alloy hubs and towers. doubt those are really needed for 40-50mph speeds.
then the price would be way down, and it would be a much more appealing car.
alloy hubs and towers should be an upgrade option IMO.

It's a TEN POUND CAR, the VXL system will not push it.

Granted, 2 of those pounds are motor if it's a 1717.

Looks pretty cool but there are plenty of on road cars that will do 100mph already. Just wondering about the handling? It may just be a straight line car. Also not really hot on the whole gotta have a Iphone to unlock really? Another force you to buy a apple product gig. Not impressed with that Traxxas not at all.
