The LaGrange L1 uses standard hobby parts such as an outrunner motor and a Castle Creations ESC. It is completely programmable and is offered as a kit or RTR.

belt drive IMO is not a good idea. Dunno about sidewalks where you guys are but near here there are small pebbles on the sidewalk, and they EAT belts alive. Chain drive probably would be a better option.
Other than that its a pretty interesting design

Cool designs you got there RedRockBoardshop, they're awesome! [] Anyway, in my friend's place, the use of electric skateboard has been very beneficial to them especially that car is not always the most ideal mode of transport in the place. A lot of people live in cramped urban settings where other pursuits are more effective, such as a bicycle, by foot or maybe a skateboard. Some are quite fast, in fact, as an electric skateboard beat a Corvette in a competition, given though that the competition was only 75 feet long.
