RE: Looking for a Rear Wheel Drive OnRoad Car
I finished installing the front disc brakes...
I don't have a proper radio at the moment to test it properly so what I did is set it up on my 2ch pistol grip radio... I used the steering channel to operate the brake servo, so I'm using the steering wheel on the radio to activate the disc brakes....
Did a really small vid and you tubed it, so I hope the link works! Will try o do a better vid tomorrow outside in the daylight if it doesn't ave too much snow outside...
The beginning of the vid I drove the car forward and back so you can see the wheels spinning, then I activated the bake servo(you can hear it!) and the front wheels locked up....

RE: Looking for a Rear Wheel Drive OnRoad Car
Last night I robbed my Globeliner of its Futaba 4YF radio system and installed it in the Escort...
Did a quick test run but didn't shoot any video... Wow! Talk about night and day difference! The brakes worked out pretty good! I will try to do a vid tonight, but it will be indoors. Not much chance of any out door shots/vids for a few days cause of Nemo! But boyoboy, I see some awesome burnouts in the near future!

i am really excited! it would be great if you could create a build sheet when this is all over so that I and other hobbyist can build our own RWDs!

Finally got some time to get back to this project! Been bogged down with other stuff in addition to having to relocate my workbench and rc stuff... What a bummer that was! Before, I knew exactly where everything was, now i gotta go hunting for stuff!
Anywho... Got some work done on the steering wheel assembly...want to try to install the rear dampers tonight and get started on the pedals and gear lever etc....

Wow thats great! Love how you made it RWD, front engine and live axle. I have seensome of the rally mk2 have multi link setups in the rear, did you think about that option too? It would make it easier to adjust softness of suspension and have more freedom of movement for the axle.

I completed the gear lever, handbrake lever and the pedals tonight, so will post up some pics a little later as soon as I can take them! Also got the rocker panels done so I can route all the wiring from the front to the trunk...! This way I won't have wires laying across the flooring...lol!

Youre already making everything scale so if you want to and do it right, lights would make it perfect. Maybe even working brake lights and turn signals.

Hey there Frederick_b ! Thanks for the kind words! To be honest I modeled it after my mk2 that I had years ago...although it wasn't a rally version! I will definitely look into the multi link setup but only after I see how it rides with the leaf springs!

I recently ordered an mk2 body (the same you got) from retro racing, to go on my TB-01 rally, and they say they include vintage wheels and tires with it. Do you have these wheels? Are they standard sidewall tires? Or are they like the hpi higher profile tires?
You and I both. I am doing a 1/5 scale impreza and I too want to stick to the genuine suspension bits of subaru (I own a 2003 wrx, same body I am building the 1/5th scale). Rear multi link strut, front macpherson, AWD and home made!

I don't have the wheels that they offer now...[:@]. I bought mine about 2 years ago when they had their website up! And they weren't offering them at that time! But I believe that they are like the hpi higher profiles....
Have you started a thread for the Subaru that you are building? Sounds awesome! Would love to see the pics!
Myself, I have a HPI Super Nitro Rally that I converted to brushless electric a few years ago! This is my main basher!
