Fred, you really are my hero! I love what you are doing here, and, if I ever visit Canada I'm coming to stay! The detail is amazing, and it is so fascinating to watch how you overcome each little problem. Good job mate!
I received my Mk2 shell a few months back but have just given my chassis (Tamiya TT-01) an overhaul. I've just ordered my paint and will post pics as soon as I can.
Looking forward to the next update!

Is the escort shell going on the overhauled TT01 chassis? Make sure to show us the pics when done!

I'm wondering which wheels to go for my Escort on my TT-01 chassis??? I was thinking of the Mini Cooper ones like these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2311759916...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT but not sure, any thoughts?

Any tamiya m-chassis wheels are best choice size wize, and these minilites are especially good looking on the escort. But these tires are the smaller diameter ones (55m). Not knowing the size look I did order both sizes in my search for tires, and IMHO you should definately go with the larger diameter ones (60mm, also called 60D).
I also found the 3racing tires are just a tad larger diameter than the tamiya 60D tires, which is a good thing I think for the escort (I prefer that to skinny tires).
You can look at my previous posts I do a picture comparison of the touring tires, 55d and 60d.

Here are the pics:
Today I finally received the gd600 tranny! and also the m-chassis tires I bought. Still waiting for the wheels though.
Here is a size comparison with tamiya touring car tires. The m tires are tamiya too, the medium size is 60D (60mm) and the small one is the 55mm model.
I think the medium size (60mm) will be perfect for the escort! By the way the disc in this picture is from the crappy chinese kit, but are almost same size as the one Prestonlal will be sending me! (I am buyin some of his leftover parts from his disc brakes and Venom 1/8th scale bike brakes)

Also the mini wheels are pretty small inside so clearance might be an issue. You should probably search for tt01 fitment with mini wheels, it has probably been done by others given how popular is the tt01. (there is a tt01 official thread I believe?)

Here you can see the raw stock of air duct, and on top of it the cut piece.
The difference in color is where I buffed more and reached the raw steel, which is what I need to solder the frame rails under the floor pan. It is not very heavy a all, a least it does not seem so.

LOL! Sorry I've been really lazy and not had much time recently. I've cut mine out now and have the paint but I need to get myself an air brush spray kit before I can actually spray it. I have some time off soon so hope to make some progress soon. BTW what type of screws/bolts did you join your shell with? I tried looking for something small enough in B&Q and couldn't find anything suitable.

IIRC there was a cortina, bmw, cedric and the escorts (mk1 and 2). They all looked pretty cool!

K just had a rummage in my parts box and managed to find 4 stumpy flag headed screws that do the job. I always have Lots of extra bits and come in useful every so often. He used to supply the screws with the shell but the shells weren't good quality.. Now he supplies better quality shells but with no screws lol.. He will get it right eventually
