It's good to see a pic of it, though.....some have plugs that go into lighting/flash units that won't fit into a receiver. There's no mention of brand or what type of light string it is, so a pic is best, so it can be identified.

The picture on the first eBay link shows you that it goes directly into the receiver as I had expected and yes this will run off the main battery that you will be running the car with

Like cooling fans, their draw is so small, it won't be noticed. And since it plugs into the receiver, it should work pretty much anywhere that has a receiver port. The reason I had you post a pic is that not all light plugs are the same. Tamiya has their own (that plugs into their light control modules), and some other brands, theirs. The plug you have is a standard plug, and there should be a resistor somewhere along the wires, to add brightness to the LED's.

If u have a soldering iron ur 1/2 way there...
I'm happy to help design a led setup...all u would have to do is order the parts and solder it together.
all u need is...
soldering-iron
solder
LED's
heatshrink
small length of wire
switch.. Optional
there are two ways of powering LED's in a electric rc car
main battery power
ESC built in BEC (via a connector on the receiver)
if u plan on only running one type of battery... NOT swapping from 2s to 3si would recommend running it off the battery... It has a higher working voltage and can be a good indicator if the battery is still plugged in

So I order my LED Kits from http://www.mcssl.com/store/rc-lighthouse you can custom design it and decide how you want the connection to be and how you want your switch and such. It'll give you a nice easy set of lights. I tried two different LED kits before going with these guys and they work so well I don't know if I'll go back anytime soon. They also come with led housings to give the look of projecter headlights. they work great!
