Default Problem with my car's top speed

Hello. I just recently purchased my second RC car, a tamiya TT-02. After I had set everything up and taken it out for a run, I noticed that it ran quite slowly with the stock esc and motor, around 20 km/h. Okay, so I decided to take the brushless combo (leopard 60A 4370kv 9T) I've used in my first car and installed it on the TT-02. Then I noticed that the top speed only rose a bit, up to 28 km/h. The pinion is 22t and spur 70t. The car accelerates up to its top speed pretty fast, but I still think that it should move a lot quicker than that. The car I took the esc+motor combo from (a buggy) moved almost 50 km/h, so I think the difference is pretty significant and that there is something up with my TT-02, but what could it be? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Are you using NiMH? Did you reset your endpoints on your transmitter?
