Default Good asphalt touring car kit under 200$ -help needed

Hi, i have been driving my TT-01 with MM5700 and 6/8 cells on my local track and i need a better handling car.
TT is ok, but it is not that good on track -rallying and parking lots seems to be made for it.

I also have F103GT, but it is rwd, and on corners i need to drive it CAREFULLY. -4wd seems to be better for me.

I have been looking at Tamiyas (TA-05,ifs,r -or TA-05 IFS-R), xrays, tc4...but i only really know Tamiyas, and their spares are available all over the world-a big + .

Is the TA-05 anymore as good as the others or has the time flew past this kit?

I will most likely get the car and spares from tower, rcmart or stella, so please keep that in mind .

I will be using the MM5700 combo on it ,and i have a good selection of foam/rubber tires all ready, so i only need the car, servo (and a body -i can use my old viper one for a while)

I most likely will not be racing it against anyone , but i really want it to go fast(+ 60mph speeds) - and handle well around track(asphalt,in good condition).

If there is good threads on your suggested cars, please place the link here.

The track(left bottom corner)

I don't have a TT01 to compare it with, but I ave a TA05 and really love it. I am getting ready to race it next week and have spent the better part of two weeks getting it ready.
I would suggest the TA05 to anyone. It really seems to be a great handleing car.

I would have to put a vote in for the TA-05 too.
A few mates run these against TTs and MI3s and having ran them all i like the tune options on the TA-05 best, its a world of difference to the TT-01 m8

It really looks like TA-05 is the one to get

Now i need to think witch version... Is there any advantages on the ifs other than ability to use the lower shells?

R- or ifs-R worth the ~220$ ? -or am i better of with something like standard TA and trf shocks ??

And that track is the track i use, the bigger one is carting track.

I think I wold stay away from rcmart.com if I were you. I just order some stuff from them, and they double charged me, and are not answering my e-mails. Long story short, it's going to tae me at least a week to get it sorted out, and in the mean time they have really screwed my account.
Both of those ca be purchased at towerhobies.com, albeit for a little bit more, but they have they best customer service I have had the pleasure of dealing wth. One thing is for sure, I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from rcmart again. I guess I should have realized something was up when the billing was being done by a third party billing company.

Sorry to read that you have had bad luck with them.

I have allways received what i have ordered from them. Stellamodels is another possibility to order from, they have done good job so far too.

Raybrig IFS from stella would cost me 140$+39$ shipping and 22%vat ~140ā‚¬ -does this seem to be a good peace of sh** -sorry, i ment to write kit.

(from tower it would be 2x that price)

the Ferrari430(standard TA-05) -would be 22$ less,so the IFS is worth that extra money?

And my budget would be happy if there is cheap and good servo somewhere, http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1099_1029&products_id=14546&pname=Blue%20Bird%20(#BMS-621)%20High-Speed%20Servo

-thease are perfect 4 my budget. I know that BB/YR are not the best servo makers, but are these hopeless ones?

In my opinion, any Hitec servo is a good servo. I have never had bad luck with them, and the have always been very durable. Right now I have a HS625MG in my TA05, and it works well. I would like a faster digital though.

I think i will order the IFS Raybrig one, -give me the last push towards it!

And will any standard servo fit on it? -i know what the manual says, but on the rcmart/tower the measurements seemed to be with the gear, not like on manual? -so 41x20.5x41 will fit??

is there anything else different then shell on these ?

http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/...oducts_id=3253

http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/...oducts_id=3290

If iĀ“ll get the r version, what pinion to get?
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=293_450_924&products_id=8270&pname=Tamiya%20(#53262)%200.4%20Steel%20Pinion%20G ears%20(28T/29T)

-this set ok?

http://www.stellamodels.net/catalog/...oducts_id=3361 -i may get this, if it is good?

Any standard servo will fit.
As for shells, especially with the IFS, and 190mm body will fit as well.
Spur and pinin gears depend on what motor you are running. My Novak 13.5 brushless likes be geared up, so I am running a 30t pinion and a 78t spur for an FDR of about 5.38 I think.

I will be using the 5700kv mamba with 6-cells. On my tt, i have~8.2 gear ratio, and i like it. these 28/29 pinions will give about the same ratio, so it will be OK?

And that ifs-r , do you think it is worth the extra 75$ (it does have a lot upgrades included)

I just ordered this -the TA-05 IFS-R
It was the last one on first batch!

I hope it will be good!

I still need advice on pinions, servo(CHEAP), and setup help.

Look at some of the other recent threads still on the first page, it is a pretty good setup from what I hear at the track (It's new so not a lot of people are running it). That looks like a pretty cool track by the way.

Thanks, yeah ,that track is ok, but it is build on swamp land! -so it changes itĀ“s shape every year a bit. I were there today with my tt-01 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPbObVDXICE -spur got destroyed (in 4 pieces) . -and the track had few puddles on it -SLIPPERY!

Think you made a good choice with the TA-05 IFS-R m8 they really do well racing and hug the track really well too.
I wouldnt skimp on the servo though as your gonna be running BL power get one with good torque and metal gears so it will control the steering well into the turns.
I will ask my friends which pinion combo works best with BL too for you i know one is running the stock gearing but he prefers the smaller tracks to run makes good pullaway and the BL makes up speed on the straights

Thanks Tiger, the -R model uses the 105t spur, i think that the standard versions uses smaller ones? -so please ask your friends anyway, at least well know the correct ratio then, even with different spur.

Oh, and that track seems to be liked -it is cheap too, only 5ā‚¬ /year to use. -and we all keep it in good shape,.p.

I agree 100% with tiger. Don't skimp on the servo. if you buy a good one now you will have no worries. I suggest a metal gear Hitec or Futaba. I have also run JR servos, but I think they are horrible. I went through 3 in three weeks and one of them didn't even work out of the box! I hear Ace servos are good, but I have no expirence with them.
I upgraded to digital sevos with my Spektrum DX3R, and can't go back to analog now, cause the digitals are so much faster. Down side though, is that now most of the servos I want are between $80 and $120.
IMO, sick with Hitec, and I doubt you will be dissapointed.

I actually have used the 8$ yr ones and they have worked ok, just the torque is not good when using foams.

I belive that 100$ would buy me a very good servo, but for now i really cant think anything like that much.
I have a lot of cars and when i can i will get the perfect servo for this 1 and retire the old one to some other car, so 4 now i will be happy with fast servo that will be good for a while.

the BB 621/631mg looks ok, but i dont know about the torque, what is enough -or how much speed and torq is enough for this car/track?

http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1099_1029&products_id=15941&pname=Blue%20Bird%20(#BMS-631MG)%20Super%20Fast%20Servo

something else under 40$ ? (and that is pushing my budget over the limit -that kit was 215$ +shipping and taxes)

Cheapest hitec/futaba under.20sec cost ~50$, so i think that i would like to get faster one for a bit cheaper.-

i would highly recommend the blue bird brand servo's, i got one form rcmart for about $30, it is amazing !! fast and strong.

congrats on getting the '05 mate, you will not be disappointed with it !!

it will easily handle the MM5700

i run a Novak GTB 5.5T brushless system in mine, on polished wood floor fast as hell

it is only you who has a problem with rcmart, everyone else i know who shops with them find them great, i have made about 25 orders from them.

if i were you, i would cancel your account and then recreate it, 2nd time lucky

Dam! http://www.rcstudy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9504 -i did not think there were this much hop-ups included on IFS-R!

any info about gear ratios Luke? I am thinking something like 7.16 7.38 (using 105 spur and 32/33 pinion)

I would reccomend getting 64dp gearing, if you use a 112T spur gear, i have posted a gear ratio chart on a previous page

sorry mate, i thought i was posting in this thread

The 64dp gearing is much better for the brushless, if you order one now, then install it at the initial build
