Don't do this!!! IT HURTS LIKE CRAZY!!!
Ok kids, this is something you should make sure you NEVER do, unless you like the smell of burning skin, and don't mind looking like a dumbass, like me.
I was setting up my Lipo charging equipment, and had my 3200mAh lipo out and was getting ready to charge it. While I was hooking things up, I suddenly see this real bright flash, followed by sparks, the smell of burning skin, oh yeah, and did I mention, crap loads of pain???
Somehow, while hooking things up, my wedding ring, came in contact with the two exposed contact points of my deans ultra plug on my lipo battery. Instant short circuit, and instant pain.
This is the end result, so PLEASE be careful. Even something as small as the batteries we use, can hurt like frickin' crazy if it shocks you.
There was less than a second of contact by the way. The white area around the burn mark on the right, is instant blister, also, this pic was taken AFTER I had the burn under cold ass water for ten minutes, and it is getting worse.
Oh yeah, did I also mention, I am a dumb ass, for not paying attention to what the hell I was doing?

Looks painful, in all honesty I'm still new to all this and have heard people talking about Lipos but not actually read up on what they do. Now I see this and all the other people saying about taking precautions and the BRCA saying you cant use them in races seems to me alot of hassle I don't need. :P I hope it hurts less in the morning however I'm sure it will probably hurt more.

how is the lipo? if it was charged them you could have made it catch on fire.
I hope you have FEmale ends on your packs and males on your chargers, if not change them right NOW or something worse might happen

It's always a good idea to remove ALL metal objects in contact with your skin (any kind of jewelry, etc.) before working on electronics, especially high-power batteries, I won't wear metal irl to begin with but for people that do, I have heard of much worse things happening than what happened to you.

I don't even understand how that could have even happened unless like another guy said you have your male and female orientation backwards but in either case sorry thats a pretty bad burn doesn't look like it needed much of a charge.

Naw, if the ring was off there would have been no shock. Unless maybe there was water on my hands, but even then it is unlikely. Water makes a poor conductor.

Ive heard of people losing fingers in situations like this.
How can the ring make contact with the terminals in the dean's plug? The terminals are recessed in a plastic housing. Did you not use heatshrink or is there a male connector on the battery?
