body cut out, but not sanded as yet... white paint arrived today...

would white wheels be overkill? i think so but will have to try them...

shocks fitted to the chassis, the black TRF's would look a lot better though..

Sorry to crash your thread, Lee, but I thought you guys might get a kick out of my newly restored FF01. I used to race one back in the mid 90's but sold it a long time ago (even made it to the Tamiya Nationals). For some reason I kept the original Levin body and for the last year I've been searching for a good deal. I just found one from a local guy on craigslist that was dirty, but in fairly good condition with an FRP chassis, carbon shafts, HPI rear lowing kit, and the original box and instructions. There was even a Dec '94 issue of Remote Control Model Cars in the box. I've been drag racing against my friend's RC18R with my MO3R, but kept blowing tires so I thought I'd try the FF01 (my TA04R always won, so i thought it'd be more of a challenge to beat him with a FWD car).

I completely tore down the chassis and cleaned everything, re-oiled the bearings and replaced a dogbone and a few screws that were missing. I ditched the old Tekin P-12 and Peak motor for a Mamba Max, Speed Passion 2.5R and Trackpower 4900mah 2s geared 66/24. I also added TRF shocks and Kyosho 30mm foams in front and 26mm foams in the rear. He's still killing me in acceleration but I'm close to his top speed of 60+ mph. The car leaves 50ft stripes in the asphalt at 3/4 throttle, but at full throttle the stock suspension shakes and I get bad axle hop. I'm going to try to tighten up the front suspension, add some weight over the motor and gear up for next week.

BTW, nice build and sweet collection. You put my Tamiya collection to shame!

So here you are guys~~~

All the parts you see are from Tamiya, except the front metal bumper....

Interesting to see the "-" screws, they are also from Tamiya just specially for this car, they are very soft, as soon as you apply some force to it, the screw will bent!!!![:@]

got the limited edition white springs...

they look loads better than the stock yellow springs..

pinion choices... going for 21T for maximum tyre shreddage!!

heat sink attached, hard to get the correct mesh due to a tiny window.. the heatsink actually makes contact with the motor, which is better than just through the screws (M-04 style) [&:]

depends on what motor you bang in em, it will be fast with the Novak 4.5, and will suffer a lot of wheelspin being front wheel drive! ive spent lots, both on NIB's and runners! [&:]

Hey Takzi, that is one nice looking FWD. I'm currently refurbing one myself with all new parts I've had lying around. Question; aren't those screws made by Cross? I remember them making a screw kit for the TA03. I know for a fact Tamiya never sold those as a hop-up option.
