Ok, so I made the plunge into F1 as it just seems more fun. Question I have is where can I find a new body shell for the car? I picked up a very modified Formula Ten chassis which has mounting locations for either HPI or F104 bodies, So I am looking for something to fit. Have been playing with a 25T and a 3800Kv system, both are fun but I think the brushless will be the one to eventually end up in this chassis, it's just too much fun.

@Orcatkt, I saw that you're looking for an Williams FW16 body. You're in luck, there's a company that makes one those. It's actually a very nice looking body with good detail. The only problem I saw with it is it doesn't have molded cut lines for the front A-arms. I ordered one a couple of years back, just haven't painted it up yet.

Here's a link to their website. The body is named 94W.
http://www.rc-trg.com/trg-body.html

Here's a link for the sticker sheet, but you'll have to paint the red and gold trim. This is at TQ.

Good luck with it.

Cool, seems that the manufacturer's dimensions show the Formula 10 having a 283mm wheelbase while the F104 has a 270mm, will that be too much of a difference? It might seem odd, but I want it to have a scale feel. Off to scout those links now! Thanks for the help.

The Tamiya F104 (like the Ferrari F60) and HPI Formula 10 car are based on a more modern F1 design, longer and narrower. The Tamiya F104W is a wider car that used a different front and rear end (from the Tamiya F103). IMO, I think you’d want to use the W type car for a more scale appearance.

However, if you plan on running/racing the car at your local club you may not be able to based on some of the rules that only allow 190mm maximum width. You should check with them before hand if you plan to race it.

I hope this helps

Thumbs up Tamiya TCS Sale in Aliso Viejo

Hey guys,

I just thought I'd share some information I found out about. It looks like Tamiya is having a sale at the TCS race this weekend. I've attached a flyer but if you can't read it this is what's going on.

It's a one day only sale, Sunday, March 30th from 10:00am to 4:00pm. It's at their track in Aliso Viejo, 4 Orion Aliso Viejo, CA 92656. They will be selling limited R/C kits, Hop-up options, body sets, and special items.

I know they had some really good deals the last time they did this. I missed out last time but I wont do that again.

I installed an Rsecetor 200mm conversion kit on the chassis as it is used also on my LM-1 body, At my local club you
can race 200mm F1 and LM1 so i just change wheels and front bumper . See photo attached. Regards

Hi, Was able to get a W05 body from Hong Kong. Although not the same quality as Tamiya it is the only one available for the W05.
Enjoy and regards

Quick pic of my bashing shell for practice. Need to find somewhere on the East Coast that races these properly. Excuse the bash buggy in the background, I run that with my boys.

Does anyone race out the East Coast US? I am in South VA and looking to start racing F1. I will probably look at 1/10 on road as well, but the F1 is what appeals most. Happy to travel if it is good people and a good time!
Basic idea of what is being run would be helpful too so I can turn up with a legal car lol! Anyway, shout out, I am finding the F1 is more fun than the buggies and SC stuff was. Plus it feeds my need for highly complex items that go very very fast.

The Rug at King R/C, which is in the Winston-Salem, NC area, races F1. We use an UF1 format. They have a Facebook page that lists the schedule. A group of us will be there to race on-road on the 28th. The usually have USVTA, USGT, 17.5 TC, 1/12th (13.5 and/or 17.5), F1, and maybe more.
I am rarely on RCUniverse, but I have this same logon on RCTech.net.

Hi All,

I'm loving this thread, and have just made the used plunge with a couple of unknown rolling chassis that were available for a price that made it far too tempting to resist (free!). My problem is that I don't know the make/model of either of them so I can get started fitting them out to my liking. I'm hoping the collective wisdom here can help out. Please take a look and let me know if you have some idea what there are:

Also, I've only run stadium and short course trucks so far, so if anyone wanted to offer up suggestions for ESC/Motor combos that would be appropriate for a street racing beginner, I would be most appreciative. Note that I'm strictly NiMH for now due to budget, and I'm not looking for a setup that could pass my Mazda on the freeway.

Thanks everyone!
