RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Is it glued to the chassis? Do you connect the two end under the belt?
Side questions, what motor are you running and about what speeds do you get with what gearing?

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Yes it is glued to the chassis, it's connected right over/on the piece of velcro over the motor wires, has never come apart.
I'm running CC sidewinder 5700 combo.
I don't know what my top speed, I do know it's fast enough for the indoor track I use it on, and can barely go full out in the straight.
Our indoor track is not very big, I believe it's 100ft wide by 50ft width with 10ft lanes.
Everyone wants a fast car, even I do, however you can only use all that power on a straight away or bashing in a parking lot.
(ever tried running full speed and turn??)
It's only so fast you can go on a small track with lots of bends.
The fastest time we have on record for our track is in the 18seconds, I'm usually in the 20's, never been able to crack 19seconds

Yeah I hear ya. I'm not looking for anything crazy, maybe somewhere between 40 and 50mph. Most of my driving will just be parking lot bashing as I don't have any close tracks to me.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Uncle Vinnie,
HPI has had that steering slop in the original RS4 (which superseded the Sprint 2), and never thought to fix it, when they upgraded to the Sprint 2 chassis.
I have a fix here, on page 34, I believe, that will tighten up the steering to your satisfaction. Ihad done it to mine more than two years ago, and it's still tight, accurate steering!
Ihave pics floating around somewhere, If Ican find them, I'll post them, so you can see how it's done. All I did here is describe it in text.
So check out page 34. If you can make sense of what I wrote, it's actually pretty easy to do, will take about an hour, and the fix lasts!

Hey gokenidoro,
I have already read your steering fix, and totally fixed the right side.
The left side was never quite right just do to the fact I didn't have a shim thin enough.
Went back at it today, did find a shim and Voila....there is still a tiny slight of play, but it's much better.
Good write
thanks gokenidoro

Here they are:

It's the best I could do, under the circumstances, so if it's a bit blurry, I apologise.

I'm looking for an aluminum steering servo mount that fits the sprint, anyone have suggestions???
Preferably with 2 holes to match the servo (Spektrum S6020)

I would try Golden Horizons. Forget Integy, they suck. Bad.
Having problems with mounting? The Spektrum is a standard size servo, so you're good, as GHwill tell you if it's for an outsized (or mini) servo or not.
Also, which servo? Spektrums are all pretty slow. I wonder how it's doing for you?

I though my servo was pretty good, seems to be fast.
Here are the specs:
Type: Digital

Speed: 0.19 sec/60° @ 6V
Length: 1.6 in (41mm)
Width: 0.8 in (20mm)
Height: 1.5 in (39mm)
Weight: 1.7 oz (49.0 g)
Bushing Or Bearing: Bearing
Bearing: Dual
Motor Type: Brushed
Connector Type: Z-connector
Gear Type: Metal

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Yah, those specs are telling.
The transit speed..... .19 is a bit slow. Something at . 14 or faster would benefit you. You don't absolutely have to, but it would definitely help.
If you do go with a faster servo, you may have to adjust other components as well. Like your ESC.
I try to stay around .13, but it's hard for most, because the faster the speed, the more the servo costs. It definitely helps with handling, though.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
Has anyone bought the HPI Racing Rear Shock Tower Woven Graphite for the Sprint 2??????
I'm just curious if it comes with the body posts.
The picture doesn't show any, and I was on Towehobbies the description doesn't mention anything about body posts.

Do you have a pic???
I must be missing something, the stock body mounts are one piece attached together on both sides.
The place to mount on the rear graphite it also looks much wider.
The image below doesn't look like anything I have for the body post mounts.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
I found the same thing, but body mount locations onother chassis will all be different, too, so it's inconvenient, if you want to use the same body you have now.
Ihave to swap body mounts around, every time I change bodies (and none are interchangeable to one another), so I guess I'm used to it. Normally, they'll go from the inside of the carbon plate, straight up anywhere between 2 1/4 in and 3 in. apart.
The fronts will differ, also. Some mount on the front tower, like the rear, and go straight up, or (most often) are mounted on the front bumper mount somewhere.
The change ofmount position isn't too drastic, and HPIdoesn't do it like anyone else, since there's no standardization, but the benefit of the carbon tower makes it worth it, in my opinion.

here is the part that I ordered, see if its the one you ordered. You must not taken it off your original rear shock tower, you are missing the entire post holder

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
So, I'm going to order the 4420kv motor and another 60amp esc (whenever they come back in stock) for my Sprint. Was just wondering if there was anything I should watch out for? Will be mostly on 2s but am ordering a 3000mah 3s 30c lipo also just for fun.

I have the carbon fiber shock towers. I didn't notice a change in position for the body posts. Sounds like you did something wrong. The body post position should be the same as the stock towers.

RE: OFFICIAL HPI Sprint 2 Thread (Sport and Flux)
What did you cut the chassis for? I'm only asking, because I don't know why you would, unless it's for rocks and pebbles from damaging the rear belt.
If so, there is a mod you can do to the bulkheads, to remove the cover that supposedly protects the diff and belt. It only needs to be done in the rear of the chassis, but works very well.
And no, if the bulkhead mod is done, you need not cut the carbon chassis.

Carboy, I think you installed your shock tower wrong? I can barely see yours, looks like you installed in upside down.
Here is mine:
