80 MPH ?
Never ran an onroad car but what would it take to get one to go about 80mph with electric setup. Also what car would be good for this application. I want to get one that will work with this body:

RE: 80 MPH ?
Now days it dont take much to get to 80, a brushless and 3S or 4S would do with most any chassis. That body will definitely help with the aerodynamics also.

Should be able to hit 100mph with 2s and 120mph with 4s if you know what you are doing. Tires, aerodynamics, and stability are the key things to worry about.

RE: 80 MPH ?
i know im sure you think you can handle one that goes 80-100mph but im here to say that mine does 60 and its super hard to drive at those high speeds. fun tho.
i recomend going that fast only if your pockets are deep my friends.
however, with the ta05 or a tc5 your getting a good chassis for racing and one that has plenty of adjustablility to get your stability worked out.

Any quality touring car should get you there. Just make sure you have good parts support because you will break lots of parts before you get to your goal. I use a TC3 for a speed run car and its a handful to drive at 80+mph, my next project will be a belt drive for sure.

You may want to skip the Sprint and look into higher end models. You CAN always just buy the camaro body and put it on another car

i personally didnt find it much fun crashing and breaking parts.
only use it in open spaces no streets. a mamba 7700 on a good 2s
geared right will get close to that, if not hit it. i had shaft drive.

RE: 80 MPH ?
The RTR brushles only comes w 3 different bodys and I cant bring a Mustang into a GM house! I figure the motor and speed controll I can take out and put in a different car after I learn to drive it and then upgrade. How fast should that thing go out of the box I wonder? I also orderd the camaro body.

I would guess the stock speed is around 40-45 MPH. However, I don't have any experience with the Sprint 2 (standard or Flux version), so maybe someone else will chime in and give you a better idea.

Darn I was hoping it would be faster. My 1/8th truggy is faster than that! Oh well just spend more $$$$

To get more speed than that with 2S you could gear up, but then you would have to keep a close eye on temps (motor and ESC).
Once again, that's just an estimate. Maybe someone here will have a more specific answer. Good luck with whatever you decide .

RE: 80 MPH ?
Someone has a saying in their quote bar and It was something like... "when in doubt, over volt it"
Here's what im going to say. "If your not sure about you setup, your setup won't get the job done"
Purchase a Higher End Kit car, A really good Brushless Motor/ESC combo, and a strong and reliable battery.
Research is your friend

RE: 80 MPH ?
One of the most important things when doing speed runs is finding a nice, long, flat area. One little bump or even just a crack in the pavement at 80-100mph can send you flying all over.
If you want some basic speeds it is easy to get a TC4 to hit 60mph with a mamba max 3s / 5700 setup.

RE: 80 MPH ?
i have a tc5 that i run indoors, but im not doing any mod motors, 13.5 is the lowest i've gone. i know me myself, would hate to even risk the idea of belt drive outside, and with high power systems. you wanna go stupid fast, speed-t is plenty fast, lol. or if you dont mind nitro, theres a schumacher (i think) touring car that hits 80 out the box. real problem with that kinda speed is finding the kind of room to do it in. the community college by me just repaved like 2 yrs ago so its decent, but still as was stated, one crack or rock and you're gonna go for a NASCAR inspired tumble.
goin fast is fun, that much i will say, but it can get expensive if you're not real careful. i myself have moved to indoors, i prefer to leave my nitro and dirt at home once in a while

RE: 80 MPH ?
You will spend alot of money if you want to go 80 more than once or twice, you may be able to do it cheap, but I can assure you things will not last.
Your going to need high voltage to have anything reliable. It may be possible to hit those speeds on 2s lipo, but it would require very high amperage, and thats what kills electronics. I would recommend a minimum of 3s to be more reliable. A 4s setup would run much cooler.
Again I will say you should check out the ISC forum I linked to above, lots of people have asked the same questions there and there are professionals answering the questions.
Nic Case holds the world RC speed record and is happy to help people out reaching their goals.
