Best Shaft Driven Car for the Moderate Enthusiast?

Ive just recently gotten into on road 4x4s with my first touring car- A used TT-01E.
(You can see the thread here:http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11...m.htm#11452229)
I am disappointed with the potential I have with the TT and want to look into something more market current. I have noticed the TC4 as a leader. Can anyone enlighten me to what is hot and reliable on the market nowadays? I am not a hardcore racer or drifter so my options are flexible. My only requirements are that the model be 1/10th, ELECTRIC and SHAFT DRIVEN, preferably RTR but does not have to be. I want something versatile- something that has a lot of adjustability and that I can switch back and forth from a touring to a drift car. All recommendations are appreciated. Thanks for looking!

The tc4 is a great car. For entry level to moderate skill levels it can do it all. I have one I race in VTA and it's a blast. For more insight check out this guys vids on Youtube.

Good luck and a great choice for a car.

Since the TC4 is discontinued I may have trouble finding an RTR. Maybe i'll look into the Club kit. Has anyone had problems with avialability since it being discontinued?

How does the TC4 compare to the TT01? Both are similar in chassis style but the TT01 looks like it would keep out dirt better if I were to rally.

The TC4 is a race car, not really designed for rallying. If you want to rally, go for a Kyosho DRX.

If you will stick tho the asphalt, the TC4 Club Racer edition is a really economical kit, includes nothing you may not want, body, wheels, tires, electrics, all bought separately.

As a chassis, the TC4, any version, is light years ahead of the TT01.

The TC4 can be a nice medium duty rally car with a few hopups to add strength. If you remember, associated offered a TC3 rally kit as well as a rally conversion. We used to race them on a 1/10 buggy track and had a blast.

I recently built a TC4 for our clubs Touring Car Oval racing and love it. There are still plenty of parts available for it being Team Associated rereleased it as a club racer kit.
I have found a bunch of hop up stuff on EBay. Ihave never owned anything from Tamiya so I can't comment on the TT01.

Great car for the money!!

Both TC4 and TT01 are tub style chassis but the TT01 has the gear shroud for dirt.

Too bad the DRX has proprietary wheels- but it is 2.4gHz! I hated the range on Tamiya's AM/FMs.- tho jang has issues with the set. Ive noticed rally cars dont have a lot of durability, especially in the body. I like the DRX's included setup- its pretty decent for a RTR.

Are there any buggy to rally car conversions?
