Ok, Ok, Ok...

Now that you guys have me salivating like Pavlov's Dog, I just ordered a copy of AFPD from Ohio Model Products...

I had been trying to decide between G3 and AFPD... With the bad reviews about G3 and the fact that two LHS owner's couldn't get it to run on their PC's, plus the screen-shots and video of AFPD I've seen here, you guys helped me to make the decision on AFPD...

The OMP website says they will start shipping on Dec 10th... I can't wait...

Thanks for the info...

I just sent my unopened copy of G3 back, and ordered AFPD.

I sent messages to Realflight last week about Rebate issues, and received no responses.

Based on the other discussions here, I'm hoping AFPD is the better move.

Now to sell of the old G2.

A little customer service might have saved the sale for G3, but I guess they just don't give a darn.

Too bad.

I saw the new version of AFPD and G3.. you will be very happy you ditched the G3 and went with AFPD.

In my honest opinion, the physics in the old AFP is STILL a lot better and more realistic than the physics in the new G3. The new AFPD physics even if only tweaked will take AFP up even one more notch. What I have noticed is that the graphics engine has gotten better in AFPD and the use of shading / aliasing makes things more realistic looking.

All of these heavy graphics programs are hard on older computers. Don't think AFPD is any different. There are going to be hardware upgrade issues, but hopefully not as many as G3.. From what I have heard G3 is a pig on memory.

Since I work with computers, my problem is always whether my computer is too much / too new, not too old. I have been running 64bit Windows XP and a monster of a VESA card for several months now... talk about some fast graphics!
I can run G2 and AFP at the same time in different windows across 2 monitors!!!

Silly, I know, but I just wanted to see if it could be done!

DP:

Hardware is not an issue for me either. I'm a developer and keep my systems up to date.

I have a 2.6ghz P4 system with a gig of RAM, and I'm putting a new Gforce FX 5700 Ultra card in to replace the Gforce 4TI I have now. Giving the 4TI to the kids. Just got them a new Athlon 3000 system for $399 from Tigerdirect. Could not believe the price with 512MB or RAM CDRW & DVDRW+- too good to pass up.

Looking forward to getting AFP so I can start learning 3D.

Regards,
Lee

Get in the car and aim south. I've got cold fresh Bud in the fridge.

Why the North Pole of course. Little elves in little green suits make all of our stuff for us. Then it's whisked away by Santa Claus on a sleigh whiched is pulled by 8 flying reindeer and one little reindeer with a red nose.

Then it all comes to our Dayton office where we ship it via UPS.

It wasn't a dumb question Mudsurfer. I'm glad you asked.

I will bet some of the little software elves are in Germany and some of the aircraft ARF worker elves are in the Orient. Probably only the aircraft designer elves are left in the USA[sm=drowning.gif]. Oh well I don't think we outsource pizza yet[sm=bananahead.gif] Do we send pizza to the North Pole[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]?

Why do you think I like OMP so much? We don't have such good relations just for the fun of it! The fact that my name is Rudolf should have given you guys a hint ages ago!

O dear I just told everyone I'm a reindeer [:@]

Hey, I just didn't want to give Mudsurfer the in's and out's on who to start up your own RC company. It took us a few years to put it together. I don't want him to just take all of our trade secrets then come in and stomp on us.

Plus he looks like he may still believe in Santa Claus looking at his photo. I didn't want to blow it for him and tell him that there was no Santa Claus.

Oooops.

Sometimes I think you ask the questions you already know the answer too.

OHIO MODEL PRODUCTS does that give you a clue of where we are? Plus you have purchased from us before.

Come on now Dion, he's a kid. If he's in our public school system, he may not have known where Ohio is. His mom probably just told him it was nearby. Now your making the poor kid feel bad, AND ruining Santa for him! Come on now. ;-) I think you should arrange a special deal for the little guy to make up for this.

(Just kidding Mudsurfer), that picture is probably from 30 years ago anyway, and you just use it to disarm people.

Have a good one guys!

Hey Desert... where were you able to see the new version of AFP-Deluxe? I'm Jelous!

Believe it or not I saw it at a company I did some business with in Germany recently ... I guess the Ikarus guys do some software development for them... and they got an advance copy.. that and the head of the company is an RC fanatic!

We are truly blessed to be able to buy everything worldwide for the prices we do.

I priced a 3W-106 there and it was $150 more than I can get it here!! Go figure!!

The Euro is climbing as expected. It's up to 1.3:1 right now.

I always wondered why they ever launched it. We've been shipping a lot to Europe as a result.

Where? OMP website (aeroflypro.com/purchase/) still says ~$100 including shipping. Although they did state - [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=2338814]in this thread[/link] - that the price was fixed at $79.95.
