Which Video Card works best for G2
Hi All, I am in the process of building a new computer and would like advice on which video card works best with G2. CPU specs:1.4GHz, Pentium chip, 40GB hard drive,256MB memory. What about the following video cards: GeForce2 TI-200 64MB, GeForce4 Mx420 64 MB or? What is suggested? Thanks.

If you want to save some money, go with Gforce2 (works great for me) Gforce4, as graphics get improve might be better in the long run. Go for the 4, if you can afford it!

Which Video Card works best for G2
I just bought a 32 meg video card (PNY). Is 32 not enough? Should I take it back and get 64? Anyone running 32 succesfully? The computer is old (father-in-law gave it to me). I run Macs so this is my first PC. It ran OK but not like my 1 gig speed box I have at work. It is flawless. If a better card will help I'll take mine back.

Billy, after weighing all the options and reading the replies I received here, I went with the GeForce 3 TI with 64 meg of memory and all I can say is " it works great!" Now it could be a video card with 32 meg would be fine, I cannot answer that, but you certainly wont go wrong with more memory. Thanks for the ideas RCU.

32 or 64 ?
I ran the 32 and the 64 card and both worked well with very little difference. (I upgraded to the nvidea 64 in order to give the 32 to my son for his PC). I called the tech support for great planes and he was very helpful (can't recall his name but there are only 2, the other is a she) if you want a more definitive answer or recommendation. They will not publically state recommendation but will tell you over the phone.

There's no performane difference between 32- and 64MB cards based on the same video chip! The card performance is limited by the chip processing speed and not by the amount of on-board memory. There are no 3D games (yet?), which can take advantage of the extra 32MB.
Touting 64MB as an advantage over 32MB video memory is merely a marketing trick, a way to differentiate the product. Many independent video card reviews prove this statement.

I would stay in the middle of the road. If you buy the latest, greatest video card, you'll waste most of it's potential unless you are a gaming fanatic. You'll also pay an outragous price for it. If you want cheap, then a low priced geforce 2 card will work fine. I've had a hercules 3d prophet geforce 2 for a couple of years now and I love it. The K6 450 ran fine with it and my Athlon XP 2000 does the same.
