You may need to update that graphics card.

I agree...and 1 gb of RAM is recommended too. Try it to see, if you're already inclined to buy, but keep the piggy-bank handy. I'd recommend the X800 Pro or 6800 GT. I run the 6800 GT and it works like a dream...problem is, the card is 400 bucks with a doom bundle. You might be able to find one a tad cheaper without the bundle.

Good luck!

Sys:

Athlon 64 3200+ w/1gb RAM. 300gig hard drive space. EVGA 6800GT video.

G3 will run on your 9200se card without any upgrades. However, the above recommendations are fine and will improve G3's framerate/quality.

What kind of performance enhancement can I expect by upgrading main memory from 512mbyte to 1gbyte?. I have an HP with an Atlon 3000 chip, 512Mbyte of memory, and just recently installed an ATI Radeon 9800 128 graphics card.

Jim:

Going from 512 to 1GB will make a small difference. Maybe cut down on some jerkiness from reduced reading from CD/HD. The big difference will be from the video card. The jump from 256MB to 512MB is more significant. 512 to 1GB is getting towards diminishing returns. It comes in handy if you are running multiple programs at once though.

with that 9200se card, you might as well stick with G2. Why turn down the graphics settings and buy G3?

I just order an Athlon 64 FX-55 and ATI Radeon X800 XT PE. My Geforce 6800 is going up on eBay.
