Default G3 P-51 "Miss America" Reno Racer

"Miss America has a bad day...

Chuck Gardner reports, "Miss America, flown by Brent Hisey, blew a hole in the side of the engine during a qualification run and dead-sticked onto the runway. Hitting hard, the P-51 bounced into the sand and brush before going up on its nose and ground-looping."

Don't worry G3 users shes been fully restored!

Awesome P51!!! Unbelievable work fella. I know that must've taken some trial and error to get right. Some times a change you make to the tga file doesn't quite wind up looking the same on the plane in the SIM. Love the video too! BTW what software as it you used to screen capture that video?

USNRol

Now on to the Ultimate perhaps???

LOL somebody out their knows my pain[>:]
USNRol you got that right! The p51 targa file was all over the place -it was weird like draw a line check it in G3 -repeat. I almost decided to give it up but I already had soooo many hours of work into it and its my favorite plane IRL. This is a labor of love.

Video was captured with [link=http://www.fraps.com/]FRAPS[/link] real easy to use.

and as far as the Hangar9 Ultimate goes -this is my progress so far.,.

I really wish I had a decent photo of this Bipe -I am working off of 1 pic and it is at a a bad angle[]

Rick:

You've outdone yourself with Miss America...I love to zoom way-in in manual mode and just watch the detail fly-by. Nice work!

The Peef has to be my favorite prop-job. That Brit Merlin really pulled our airframe out-of-the-mud, Dinnit? ;-}

I remember watching Bob Hoover fly his Rockwell Yellow Canary at airshows. There's nothing that sounds like a peef strafing a field...NOTHING...well, maybe a Spitfire...NAH! ;-}

Thank you very much r1derbike!

Make sure you use a 4-blade prop!

I set the "Torque from engine mod" to 300

"prop diameter" to 22.1"

"Pitch" at 16.3

with those settings you should get 130-150mph running flat and 170+ in a powered dive!!

Just flew it with your mods....takes a bit to wind the engine-up! Once she's wound, oh yeah! The 4-bladed MA Classic looks good!

Absolutely drooling after seeing that ultimate so far....! You've got it just about licked! Now just to find some emblems and logos to add to it. I find them sometimes on the company's website and paste them right into the .tga. Here's some pics...not alot out there on this relatively new bird.

on the trailing edge of rudder is the text "www.horizonhobby.com"

[link=http://www.bktsi.com/powerflite/powerflite.htm]Powerflite logo here[/link] I see this decal on side of fuse

[link=http://www.desertaircraft.com/]DA logo here[/link] <--- put this one on cowl top

[link=http://www.tru-turn.com/]Tru-turn spinner logo[/link] This looks nice on either side of the cowl

Just some ideas!! Can't wait to see it up on your awesome site!!

Here's an example of the Tru-Turn decal....

The only decal I can't find is the Diamond shaped one on the side of the fuse....no idea what it is...

I downloaded your miss america to my G3 file under color schemes...is that correct? Where do I unzip it to and how do I get it into the program? First time downloading a color scheme...nice job on that one!

Thanks peefiddyonefan,
I saw Jeff Ethell fly her at the Frederick Md air show a few years ago and about one year before he lost his life in a P38.....she's also covered in a hardbound book called "Checker Tail Clan" a must have for die hard P51 fans.
