High School Project, which sim would be best?
Hi, I'm working with a group of high school students who are in the junior ROTC at our local school. We have a limited budget, and the teacher is looking to me for guidance in "all things R/C" I'm going to be teaching some of them how to fly actual R/C aircraft, but we want to get them started on sims first to help find the good ones, ya know? We have 120 potential candidates to start with, so I need all the help I can get!
I have 30+ years experience flying all types of fixed wing aircraft, but none with computer simulators, so...
I would like some input from knowlegeable people who have had some experience with these things...
I've "flown" the G2 a couple times for maybe a half hour total, but that's the extent of my experience.
What's the diff. between the G2 vs. G3 vs. Ikarus or any others out there?
Recommendations?
Thanks, Tom.

I'd reccomend AFP. It's good, cheap, and will do what you want. You can also easily edit and create new aircraft, which is great for education purposes to show how aerodynamics work, etc.

You should also consider FMS ... it is not as good as the other sims but you can download it for free. This may be a good place to start with a limited budget and a bunch of school kids. Another thing to consider is that most of the "high end" sims like G2, G3, AFP and AFP Deluxe will require a decent graphics card that the school computers will not likely have. So you are probably talking about upgrading the computer(s) in addition to purchasing the sims. FMS will run on just about any graphics card.
Good luck! Sounds like a fun project to me.

Thanks very much guys! We are just starting in the classroom, and after I gave an elec. demo in the gym, (I flew my Slow Stick, and Tribute ) we've gotten some of 'em fired up...We hope to have some people up and flying actual models by spring.
