Sims eat up CPU

Sims eat up CPU
I downloaded both FMS and PreFlight since they're free. Both make my CPU run at a constant 100%. Is this really normal? I have lots of software and nothing will make my processor run like that unless something hangs up/crashes. If I still had my old computer I wouldn't even be able to run FMS or PreFlight because my computer would overheat quick. Anyway, just wondering if this happens to everybody's computer. (I built this computer with a Biostar M7NCD motherboard, AMD 2600XP CPU, 2X 512MB 333 DDR ram, GeForce4 MX 4000 128MB AGP 8X video, WD 80GB & 120GB HD, and my operating system is XP Pro)

With XP or NT: ctrl+alt+del -> task manager -> performance
