Default Willing to Help out the G3 Community with a Swap Site

i have read in many threads that quite a few people are upset about not being able to swap aircraft. i have offered to a couple people in the past but had no takers, but the problems seems to go on, so again i will offer this. i am not making any money from it and it is from a server i have set up at home on a 512Kb/s up cable connection. not the fastest but better than nothing.

Website Link to view the site, not to upload
[link=http://rcmodels.sytes.net]http://rcmodels.sytes.net[/link]
again, this is just to help out the community and i gain nothing from this, as i don't even have G3, but i do have the knowledge of how to setup up web/ftp sites so i may as well use it . there are no popups or adds on it, just a plain site.

FTP info for you to upload the files to be shared:
ftp://rcmodels2.sytes.net
username: rfg3
password: plane

do not use the link directly from the browser unless you are using internet explorer because with firefox you will get a 530 wrong password error. use a ftp client, a good free one is [link=http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/]Filezilla[/link]

use port mode in your ftp client software and please put in the correct directory.

also, please make them zip files and create a new directory for each one you upload

thanks

we already have a couple "swap" pages, but they are not like the realflight official swap pages where anyone can post what they want, is that what you are trying to do?

Just so you know, I don't think there is ever going to be a "swap page" based on what Jim Bourke has publicly stated..

Jim Bourke

Well, at this point I'll confirm that Knife Edge is working on an automated swap system, but no one here was aware that the usual G3 swap pages were not going up.

Looks like a communication problem. Sorry for our part in it. I'll let everyone here at KE know that there won't be a "manual" swap page for G3 and we'll accelerate our efforts to get the automated system online.

Right now our ETA is for October.

Jim
.. I have no what this "automated swap system" is but it looks like we won't see it till the end of the year[&:]

Anybody have a clue what Jim means by "automated swap system"??

It means G3 will handle swapping files from within the software.

Does this mean if I am flying online and someone has a plane I don't have it will be added to my inventory of planes?
Could you provide a little more detail?

Well shoot. I was just at lunch with my boss and told him what I said above and he said I was wrong. It's not going to be handled within the software. "Automated swap pages" means something else (web-based) and now that I'm more informed, I can't really say much more about it except that it's been a fairly hot topic around the lunch table. Sorry for the confusion.

yea well i figured that!
unless i am intrepreting this incorrectly, i don't understand the hostility towards me in trying to help out the community. i am not receiving any type of gain from this and was just something i offered because i have the knowledge and ability to put up a site that is easy to use until knifeedge got their site up and running.

you all have the ftp info and you can use internet explorer to upload stuff, all you do is login and drag your files to the desired folder - please create a new folder in the appropriate folder, so if you want, you can upload the planes, airports, schemes and share with others.

if somebody could explaing the hostility toward me from Breakstuff5050 i would appreciate it.

I'm sorry man, I wasnt trying to be hostle in anyway, all I said was "yea well i figured that", i meant that as I figured that you were trying to help us out since the official swap page is not up yet. I'm sorry if I came off that way, maybe I should have chosen better words to describe what I was trying to say, again, I apoligize. But thank you for this offer, it would be well appreciated if you did this!
