Default RE: Panorama photo-realistic RC fields

Hornetz,

http://www.flyingcirkus.com/forum/Pa...m_87166/tm.htm is the specific link for the 1.58MB highly compressed Reflex Abbott panorama, click on Attachment(1) then let the file download and save the file to your system... on dial-up be patient as it looks like just sky at first! The image is large and appropriately sized for direct import into Reflex XTR (but see also below).

Non-compressed and therefore much higher quality images can be downloaded at http://aeroflypro.com/pano/pano Select the file you wish to download: abbott.jpg or Abbott2AFPD.zip, both are the same panorama image as above but 10MB; Cloudy Abbott AFPD.zip, same flying field but fairly overcast & dark different panorama viewpoint; JPG Clouds AFPD.zip, completely different flying field panorama... all these images are approximately 10MB and are high quality images.

A special AFPD panorama is also available at http://www.aeroflypro.com/downloads Look under AFPD scenery downloads. This version of the Abbott panorama has more functionality but only extracts to and works with AFPD. Note also that you may have to 'join' the aeroflypro.com site to download this, go ahead and join, it's painless and free... Thanks to Karl-Heinz Roeder (RC_Rodeo) for enhancing the scenery functionality for AFPD, and Dion Cini (STLPilot) and Aeroflypro.com for hosting these panorama images for the RC community to downlaod!!

The 8192x4096 image dimention on all the above files is appropriate for AFPD and G3... for Reflex XTR you must first re-size to 8160x4080 and save, maintaining aspect ratio... Then delete exactly the lower 8160x1020 from the very bottom of this image resulting in a final 8160x3060 image dimention which can then be imported into Reflex XTR...

Default RE: Panorama photo-realistic RC fields

Hey guys!

Good news: I've done my first pano!!!
Bad news: Half of the skys a big black splat[&o]!!!
But the rest of it is really nice.

I've attached a pic of it, it does look quite bad but when you get it in AFPD doesn't look as bad....as long as you fly in the bottom threequarters it's quite good.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can get rid of the black bit using Photoshop or somethin'?????....Plleeezzz????

I've attached a few screenshots of it in AFPD as well.

Anyone got any tips on taking the shots of the sky????

I'm using a Nikon D50 with a tripod.

Thanks & BW!!!

Greg.

Greg.B,

What Alma said, but only as a last resort or a quick and dirty fix...

It appears that you are missing some sky images or some of your images may be mis-aligned... If you are using Hugin, switching individual images off and on in the Preview window can sometimes point to the problem images and suggest a solution. On the other hand if you are using a program like Autostitch, forget it and do the copy and paste routine...As you say you hardly notice as long as you fly fast!! ;-)

Sky images can be really tough especially if there are no features, e.g., clear blue sky, or if the clouds are moving because then they resist most matching efforts and you have to rely on manually entering the spatial positions in a program like Hugin... a pain, but because of the ambiguity in the image itself, the position information generally does not have to be all that precise... sounds more complicated than it is... you are just roughly specifying the intervals between adjacent images, photos every 30 degrees, 45 degrees, whatever...

Very good job on a 1st panorama!!

Greg.B,

What problem with sky sceneries? Just like at the flying field, everyone is always willing to help with any problem, 10 guys at the field and you get 12 different opinions of how to fix your problem!!

And who says that panoramas aren't fun!! Good laughs guys, I think Greg.B's "sky painters" wins the prize however!!

What a hoot!!

Heck I'm still in my warm up phase, give me at least an hour to come up with something really creative.
