Default G3 update(.426) What do you think?

Okay folks I've been using the .426 for a day and I'm liking it. The smoke is beautiful. The planes fly dead on accurate. It is more complicated though. What are your thoughts if you have it? Is it worth it?

i think it is worth it. the characteristics are better and the 3D plane module editor has some new features. plus you can download planes made by other people not available anywhere else on the sim!

First impressions:

Physics-wise, it definitely feels different; almost more AFPD'ish.. I think they went a little overboard with the P-factor. Torque rolls seem a little overzealous, IMO. Harriers feel more realistic. The stock 3D Yak flys great now but a few of my edited planes now fly really funky.

More stick time will tell...

i thoguht it was worth it, since you got the update, theres no need to actually get the expansion pak for it.

I've noticed much less rudder authority across-the-board. Ground handling has changed considerably, requiring throttle inputs to "turn" the aircraft with blasts across the rudder. It seems the planes have more lift, or less apparent weight as they get off-the-ground much quicker than before.

Torque-rolling is much easier with the new update. One wheel takeoffs are common due to torque-reaction, at WFO throttle. It seems there are less inertial mass effects on the airframes during violent maneuvers.

High-alpha maneuvers are much more stable and controllable. Hard landings still rip pieces off the planes (awright!) here.

Jets, I need to work on, for more control authority, to personal tastes.

Yes...it is more AFPD-like (yuk!). Almost too easy to fly now, having grown used to the snappy behavior it had before.

Noobs will like the changes, and shouldn't be intimidated by the new physics (modifications to the old physics? ) at all.

I agree abouth being too easy to fly now!!!!

I updadted it and I didn't like it that much it's just too easy to fly,, I only flew for a few minutes 'til I downgraded back to 410,,,, it torks too much even at full deflection of ailerons it keeps rolling,,, the planes feel too light,, like the Yak takes right off when fulll power is applied.

on Multiplayer the my antivirus keeps popping up and no one can join if you host,,, i guess I'll have to give it another try and keep flying some more but I think it flies too easy!!!!! planes don't really fly that easy!!!!!

Charrua:

Think I'll "practice" with .410, and fly competition (or impress visitors) with .426! Who woulda thunk?

Don't know if there will be conflicts running two versions on the same computer...will certainly find out!

Well, it certainly has it problems, but that is purpose of a BETA, discovering them.

Ok I upgraded back again to the .426 beta version and I figured out how to import the new planes made for it like the Katana Mini and some Com. ARF Planes!!!! this time it seemed a little bit more fun but I still think it flies too easy or at least a lot easier than the 410 version.

Planes feel nose heavier than before and also still feel lighter whichis not the case on real RC planes!!!!

good thing now it's really quick to switch back and forth beatween the .410 and the .426,, I guess I'lll have to keep flyig it and fly all the planes on G3 to see difference beatween them!!!!

I like the colorscheme on that Extra, Charrua...is that one of Rick's repaint's?

Some of the jets do indeed seem nose-heavy now, requiring full-elevator on final approach, and they still slam into the runway. Need to do some tweaking there.

Zelatio's pointing-out the update is a beta version is certainly well-taken. I think lots of us are just happy the importer/exporter is out, we forget that point.

I still like .410 though, harder to fly.

Nemo's site has one of Rick's creations; Extra 330 Shockie. The colorscheme and flight-model are superb. Try it!

Sheesh. After months of pondering which sim to get and deciding on G3 because it was harder to fly... I was going to order it this week. Back to the pondering again.

There's no need to "wait" for anything.

You may use whatever version of G3 you like, and switch back and forth, if need be.

The new update is in "beta", and is being thrashed by users to find bugs.

If G3 is what you want, go for it!

Okay, for those who don't know, G3(beta version .426) doesn't fly as easily as AFPD does.(from my very limited experiences) It does fly real, but doesn't have all the snapping.(in the short time I've been using it) You can change the airplane to do that probably.(I haven't messed with it that far) It will get out of line for you also. Overall, it's still pretty good, but needs some tweaking. With the ability to import new planes, it changes everything. While some of the edited planes(before the beta.426) don't fly right anymore, you can still edit them. Rick and Nemo's new planes are wonderful and they, in and of themselves, make the whole update worth it. The Smoke effect is much improved as is the realistic look of the photofields.(was pretty good to start with) Now, I don't have the greatest video card,(as was discussed in another thread) but it all looks better.

more to come

Are you saying that planes on AFPD fly easier than the .426 beta on G3??? wow that's not good then I like the .426 but I like 410 even better it's harder to fly and that's the way it's sopoused to be i think,,, if you fly a simulator and it's too easy to fly then when you get the real plane you gonna crash for sure!!!!!.

I like the new planes to dowload now for G3 having the beta version and they fly really light lighter than my slowstick!!!! and what I like it's being able to switch back and forth beatween the upgrades!!!!! and soem of the planes i downloaded having the beta version still work pretty good on the 410 ver.

Sorry about that, the planes don't fly as easily as the AFPD ones do. In the multiplayer, this new update doesn't help anything. It's hard to host for some reason(hard to join a host) Also, I'm always having trouble connecting to other players. Sometimes the chat doesn't work. also, G3 has experienced some errors and has to close while I was hosting.

Alma, this thread is for discussing the problems of a public beta update. That means that it isn't ready for mass distribution yet, because it hasn't been tested by more than a few people. If you have G3 and this update, please post your findings. But if you are just trolling like usual in G3 threads, please leave.

Thanks,

Can you even understand what I wrote? To answer your question: "So What, when that was happened???" you are trolling and not adding anything for the purpose of helping G3 find the problems so that they can get it all fixed for the real update. You are a die-hard AFPD user and are just trying to sabatoge this thread.(trolling)
