Hey John!

About the video card , can you give me the specs on your Dell system so I can compare to the HP system I am looking to purchase? The HP card has the same video card (7300le)

( The HP Pavillion runs , I think, 300watts. which they tell me limits the card choices. )

thanks,
Bill

Default RE: Nvidea Gforce 7300LE works well w/ G3!!

you bet Bill, I just now had to go online at dell and get the specs since I'm at work and all the dell paperwork is at home.
Ok, is a demensions XPS 400, pentium D processor 3.2GHz with dual core technology,
1 gb ddr2 ****m @533mhz,
Nvidia GeForce 7300 LE card
250gb hard drive 19 inch digital flat panel monitor (I did and upgrade on this)
and a dual dvd/cd burner-player etc...
windowns xp media edition etc... bla bla.bla
speakers, / 13 in one media card reader...
printer,...
I got some other stuff on it too(extended warranty ) and it ran me ... tax and all $1512. shipped to my crib in Bama.
I was actually playing arond with different settings in G3 the other night and when I turned down the shadows and one more thing( I cant remember which) my frame rate on G3 went to over an amazing 130 frames per sec!! I said WOW!!! I couldnt tell really that I had turned down anything in G3 other than the shadows were gone which didnt bother me a bit
So far , I've been very happy with the system. I really needed a new computer since my old one was at least 15 years old and was a piece of crap with a very small hard drive.!
If you have any more questions feel free to shout. If you prefer,
email me at work at [email protected]
Now keep in mind I'm not a computer guru, but I'll answer what I can or either make up something , hahaha!!
See ya and I hope this helps!! Good luck with your search for a new one.

John!!
THANK YOU!

I like your system and I might go back to Dell. ( my old Dell is 6yrs old Window ME[:@] ) I kinda liked walking into BestBuy and the systems ( HP) are right there. At this point, I cant even use an IPod. I really wasnt fired up to research but everything has changed so much, well, best find out before laying out the bucks. My Dell has been great but is dying a slow death mostly from the demands of the newer software.

As for G3, I bet its very handy , and fun too. My G2 has been really one of my best investments in RC related hobby stuff.

I Appreciate you man, Thanks and please let us know if you come up with more G3 tips

Bill: Did you consider replacing Windows ME with Windows XP? Just a thought.. if your system has sufficient processor speed and memory, this may be an inexpensive alternative and perhaps later on, pay the big bucks for a faster system.

I have a 2 year old HP with 2.8MHz Pentium Hyper Threading and Windows XP. It works just fine for G2 and also has Ikarus installed and runs just fine. I then built up a home job with a Duron 1.3 and put a pretty high level video card in, large HDD,1 MB ram and it too runs just fine with both G2 and Ikarus. I spent about 400 bucks in the build. I was able to pick up the very large HDD (200 Gig) when they went on sale a while back. The system was easy to build and saved me some bucks. I got all from Tiger Direct.

No problem Bill.
Yeah, I did the same as you, looked around stores and window shopped forever till I just said
'lets just do it!' and went online at dell. I looked for any online coupons and was online and was talking to a dell sales rep at the same time when I placed my order. I did get them to throw in a 4 in 1 printer at no charge too!! That took a little haggling between me, the sales rep and "the manager" but I got it!! It was about a $120 buck freebie (just so you'll be advised if they say a printer is extra ). Best of luck to ya man!!
John
ps.,,, oh Bill, I almost forgot to tell you,..before you place an order, do got to their site and look at systems that have been ordered by someone but were either never shipped out or either they were sent to the person but the person never fired up the system and accepted the user agreement and just sent it back to dell. The day before I placed my order, I looked at the returns or whatever dell called it and their were several, several different systems like that at reduced prices that were very close to the setup I ordered but at substantially reduced prices. Take a look at that before you make a decision (if they have any left at the time your ready to pull out your pen and sign on the dottled line I also got no interest for the XPS system I am paying for - check it out man!
Let us know what you come up with.
See ya,...

You go Bill!!! Sounds more than enuff to do the job. If you dont mind me asking, what did it set you back?
Also, just an fyi, when I downloaded the G3.5 new upgrade a couple of days ago, the addition locked up my puter after about a minute of offline play. I could not even 'control, alt, delete' anything. It was suggested that I may have a bad download and I need to re-install the G3.5 . I just havent had time to do the re-install yet- maybe tonight I'll get a chance.
Let me know how you like your system when you get it Bill.

Hey John,

My system went over buget as I kept "stepping up" myself. ( just like a salesman would ) So I ended up spending 1639.00.
Ouch , that smarts.
Here is the reply I got from GP regarding my system:

Thank You for your recent email.

Yes it should work with that computer system. You are well over even the optimum system requirements.

ETA is tomorrow. Oh, I almost forgot........... I dont HAVE G3 yet![X(]

Bill, if it makes you feel any better, thats right at what I am paying for mine. I too kept "stepping up and upgrading" until finally I said to the dell salesperson "WHOA< STOP RIGHT THERE_ Thats a wrap !" I think we'll both be happy with what we have though ( until next year when our computers are outdated, HAHAHAHA!!
Tell us when you get it up and running Bill and we'll meet online and do some G3 together!! Myself and several others had a blast online last night now that the collision effect works-
See ya!

John,

You might want to experience this simulator on a system with a much better video card before you believe it runs well with an Nvidia Gforce 7300 LE.

(These comments are based on all texture, shading, landscape, and 3D features turned on) It will install and run on that video card but NOT RUN WELL. Overall airplane response is jerky. Try the Yak, even the one with the gyro stabilizer -- it is extremely difficult to control and almost impossible to hover, at least for me. Interrupts during flying is very frequent.

My OEM configuration -- ~$1100.00, Circuit City (This system is more than just a capable game system, except the video card and power supply):
Microsoft XP Media Center 2005 operating system
HP m7680n Core 2 Duo - 6400 (2.13GHz)
300watt Micro ATX power supply
2 GByte DDR2 4200 memory
(2) 250GByte Sata 7200rpm drives
DVD/RW multifunction Dual-layer Lightscribe drive
DVD ROM drive
Nvidia Geforce 7300LE PCIe (64mb dedicated and upto 256mb shared)
etc......

On the other hand, change out the lame video card and upgrade the power supply and you get an optimum solution for both Realflight G3 and Realflight G3.5.
My OEM configuration after mods (~$1100.00 plus $85 for video card and $109 for power supply; original power supply fixed my replaced computer):
Microsoft XP Media Center 2005 operating system
HP m7680n Core 2 Duo - 6400 (2.13GHz)
Antec 480watt Micro ATX power supply
2 GByte DDR2 4200 memory
(2) 250GByte Sata 7200rpm drives
DVD/RW multifunction Dual-layer Lightscribe drive
DVD ROM drive
Coolpower Radeon X800 GT 256 PCIe (256mbyte dedicated GDDR3 memory)
etc......

BTW, I'm running with a Samsung Syncmaster 204T 20.1" LCD monitor.

Sorry Jim, but I dont have any of your noted problems with mine. The yak is real good with none of the jerkiness that you described. Granted, I have not see G3 in person on someones elses puter with a hot video card, but honestly mine for me anyway, does good. Your mileage may vary

You might want to notify Nvidia that their specs are all wrong because based on those specs the 7900GS is a much better card than the 7600GT; of course I think you really meant the 7900GTX, not the 7600GT.
