Which simulator do you prefer among the best six?
Hi guys,
firstly... sorry for my English! I'm Italian and I just moved to US for work. Therefore I can't fly with my real model.. so, I'd like to buy one of the following RC Flight Simulator:
1- PhoenixRC
2- FS-One
3- RealFlight G3.5
4- AeroFly PRO Deluxe
5- Reflex XTR
6- ClearView
I hope that this list is comprehensive about the best simulators.
I tried to search the forum for older posts, but I haven't found a comparison among all of them.
I have a MacBook Pro 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 Due, 2 GB ram and an ATI RadeonX1600 256 MB. Therefore I shouldn't have problems to run any of them under BootCamp.
Which one do you suggest me? If it is possible, maybe we can do a poll.
I hope to not bore you about a topic that a lot of people asked about!

Same setup my Dad flies. Except for ClearView, I have them all installed and running nicely. Each has good things to teach. I'm a fixed-wing flyer, so Reflex is probably my least favorite, but I even dig it out once in a while for additional practice.

It seems that AFPD is very good. Nonetheless I have listened that it is a bit too easy to fly with it. What do you think about this?
PS I am concerned only with airplanes, not helicopters

A naive question maybe.... is it straightforward to use FS-One with the last patch 1.0.4? I mean.. just install it and that's it or I have to spend a lot of time in tweaking it?

Airplanes in aerofly, like in real life can fly anywhere from Easy to impossible and anywhere in between.
AFPD!

AFPD planes do fly very nicely but its just a little too easy through the stall and in prop hang. the helis are completly useless
i helped develope the models in phoenix i honestly believe its the best sim out there for both fixed wing and helis. Models appearing all the time, a couple of seneries since release in august. Multiplayer and a model creator are in developement as well as the normal tweeks to the physics to improve the way it flies.
as it stands the physics for helis and fixed wing are second to none.

I really do not understand which sim to buy...
Maybe not RealFlight G3.5 because it is resources consuming according to someone..
Maybe not ClearView because it is not very developed...
But among Phoenix, FSOne, AFPD and Reflex I have not a clear comparison in mind: can anyone post pros and contros with respect to airplanes?

As for what I want, I can tell you that for me physics/fidelity is 60% and graphics is 40% Moreover, I don't want to spend a lot of time in tweaking the simulator.

RE: Which simulator do you prefer among the best six?
I saw that AFPD won the Golden Wings Award:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_5388007/tm.htm
(I can't read german however, I do not know why they did not translate the text...)
Do you think that it was a reliable competition?
I am asking this because I have seen that in this forum there are people that are working with the rc simulators companies, and maybe they are not completely fair... as it is normal when one is personally involved.
From that competition seems that FSOne is only sufficient... while I have read many positive opinions, for example.

Could you tell me the pros and contros about PhoenixRC, AFPD and FS-One?
I really do not know which one to choose... and I can't buy all of them!

RE: Which simulator do you prefer among the best six?
I guess im the only one that will say it but AFDP is not very good at all in my opinion. I have G3, AFDP, and Clear View.
I can hover and do basically any 3D maneuver in AFDP all day long, no problems what so ever. This is ridiculous compared to my real life flying skills.
Out of the three sims, G3 takes the cake hands down, however it’s a huge recourse hog so you definitely need a decent computer to use it. It does have limitations, but so far it has done me a lot of good.
I hear That FS-One is good but have very little time on it. But I have to admit, the few flights I did have of FS-One were more challenging to me than G3. I’m thinking about picking up the software to make a better comparison but so far I like what I see.

I haven't tried AFPD or FS-One so I can't give a first hand comparison. I was more interested in helis though, and pretty much everyone seemed to agree that these sims didn't do helis very well, so I skipped them.

AFPD for sure. Phoenix is ok for helis but the fixed wing AI is very f l o a t y... like flying a foamy in zero wind conditions....

lol daz, did you update to version 103c yet??? also increase frontal drag a bit if you find them to floaty.
You could always drop me a line if you have any issues tweaking the planes.

Although its true that G3.5 is a resource hogger, its not that bad.I have a 2.3 ghtz processor and 1gig of ram and a 256mb nvidia 6200 graphics card and it runs fine for me so you should have no problems at all running it.I would say that having used Reflex,AFPD and G3.5 that G3.5 is the best by a MILE.AFPD is far too floaty,Reflex is just useless but Realflight G3.5 is excellent and i have been using it for ages now .I even model planes for it and there are literally hundreds of downloads for it which are being updated all the time. The Aircraft editor is fantastic as you can change anything on the plane and with online multiplayer to boot you just cant go wrong. So if you are going to spend your hard earned cash i would recommend getting Realflight G3.5 without question.
